Thoughts on this as an emergency boat

Yeah. Plan on stopping by the shop tomorrow and picking up a fitting. Im thinking a rubber plug of some sort and a fitting for the LP hose. Kind of like on a SMB.

Thoughts on this as an emergency boat

Well, I just received this. The Halcyon one was several hundred $$. THis was less than $100. Seems quite durable for its intended function. Plenty of room for me and BP/W. I'm going to fab a little fitting to allow inflation from an LP hose. Its orange on one side, visibility, and blue on...

Thoughts on this as an emergency boat

I'm pretty sure it blue on one side and orange on the other. It's actually symmetrical so you can have either side as up

Thoughts on this as an emergency boat

I was thinking the exact same thing. Since I have a fitting for my LP hose to inflate the dive flag float, there has to be some way to hook up something with an NPT. the Raft was less than $100 on Amazon for a while today so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Thoughts on this as an emergency boat

thought this would go better here rather than the boats section. What do folks think of this as an emergency raft if you are caught out and your dive boat has abandoned you? Amazon

I met a gentleman in Hawaii this sumer who does reef recovery studies. He has been doing this work for many, many years. He travels all over the world and dives h almost every day. He was a really nice person to meet and dive with. He is from Florida, Maybe you could look up his business...

How safe are you? - A thought exercise

Good questions, however, the answers to mine would not change AT ALL even if I did provide those details. I will modify to say that in this scenario you are not a fire department. Different risk profile. Hmmmm

How safe are you? - A thought exercise

My profession is safety and have been teaching chemical spill response (HAZWOPER) for about 30 years. There is an amazing amount of crossover between HAWOPER and SCUBA. Plans, rule of thirds, suits to protect you from bad environments, communication, etc. After reading many threads recently...

Does anyone know where to get this universal scuba tool?

I just received 2 in the mail. It was kind of a hassle getting hold of them as the email address kept getting rejected. I just went to their website and communicated through their contact form. $99 for the titanium version, shipped to the US. Probably more than its worth but Oh Well! It only...

Depth: 95 ft, In Deco, 500 psi, No Buddy

I have been holding this post for an hour, and I still think it is worth saying: If this thread was started by someone very few people knew, had maybe 50 dives, and was lobstering, how many would be saying " good job staying calm" and would instead be saying "why did you purposely stretch the...

Kealakekua Bay-Captain Cook - kayak diving?

We went in July, but didn't do the kayak thing. Wife and older son just wanted to hit the beaches. We still did some shore diving though. We will be back in December so this is still an option since the bay is protected and relatively calm in the winter. We have been to the area many...

    Pony bottle

I really should keep my mouth shut, but maybe someone can show me where I am wrong. I respect tbone's experience and comments, but this one seems to be written out of emotion or bias. These must be magical tanks and i would have used these as my primary rather than my backup since they have...

As I read the story it also seems that the instructor had students or student assist in the rescue. Hmmmm.

Petrel 2 - Any reason not to upgrade firmware?

I just found it odd that both units were still using FM V29 and both had been used within a week of me purchasing them. These were two different units from two different persons.
