hmm, I will say not for everyone as they are expensive but I have not used my Breitling since I got the Garmin, it's not a dive computer it's soo much more.

    Garmin Descent MK2

No clue if they have been but here are the ones I can share 1) Depends on usage but I get average 7 days if using it as just a watch 5 if doing moderate sport 3 if litening to music and running, and cant tell you about diving as charge it every single night! Running out of battery is not an...

Freediving fins when scuba diving from a boat

I used the DiveRite XT's as well, loved them when I did not care about size and weight alas, now I think weight and space have become the number one constraints and carbon fiber freedive fins are simply lighter, and I can disassemble them for packing them into my suitcase.

Freediving fins when scuba diving from a boat

Actually I am the slow poke, nudi's are my favourites and I have been known to spend over an hour hovering over a single spot, my quest is not freediving fins as such it's much more bizzare, I want to switch to full foot fins that weigh under 2.5lbs for a pair, small enough to pack in check in...

Freediving fins when scuba diving from a boat

Ahh the tradeoff, yes there are some dives where you have to hold your position (often to take a picture) but I would say in most cases your simply propelling yourself trough the water (drift, catching up with somebody who zips around, etc. are exceptions) I can probably count the number of...

Freediving fins when scuba diving from a boat

honestly I think there is no issue with a 24" fin as the working blade is only 45cm (18inch), the worst case is I end up renting fins if I snap them but really hoping not to and it all depends on the wave height and boat height if high enough I can land with my feet together and toes up but if...

Freediving fins when scuba diving from a boat

Alas with a camera in my hands its really hard to put fins on in the water especially if there is a big group or strong current but it's worth experimenting with

Freediving fins when scuba diving from a boat

I am not asking can you use freediving fins rather how do you that use them get into the water. I am looking to get a pair of 29/71 Mini-X Travel Carbon Fins so the length is not an issue, but I am worried about the blade angle, normally you gear up, stand up, walk/waddle across the deck, get to...

Diving in mid Feb to mid Mar in Bali?

Several questions re: Bali between mid Feb and mid March. We are planning to head to Bali but some places say there is either no diving or bad diving due to the monsoon season so we need advice from people that have been. 1) Is the diving good during this time period? We are thinking Menjangan...

    Question Lightest Full-Foot Fins

@happy-diver can you do me a favor and weigh the reef tourer fins, what size feet (10-11 here), and how do you find them in current? I got one set of numbers for the atomic full foo spit fins at 2lbs a pair and another at 3lbs a pair, need to find somebody that has them and ask.

    Question Lightest Full-Foot Fins

I need advice/help, I am trying to reduce the weight of the dive gear, so my current Tusa Hyperflex (4.2lbs for a pair) are being replaced but not sure what to go with. They have to be decent in current and allow me generate enough power to linger behind yet still be able to catch up with...

    Where to Go (and when)

We are open to the time of the year, so that is why I ask. 3-4 trips to Indonesia and Lovina was nice. I am asking if you could go anywhere to dive when and where (and with whom).

    Where to Go (and when)

Thanks, I have friends in Bunaken so that is on the list, love Lembeh so that was also on my list, did not find the diving that amazing in Bali so will stay there to visit friends and relax but might be land based, will leave Malaysia for another trip. Komodo for sure for the land aspect, but...

    Where to Go (and when)

I know this is a very broad question and that it's personal preference but we are starting to plan for a trip in 2023, we are thinking 3-5 weeks and at least 1 liveaboard (we are leaning towards the Arenui) but we need opinions and recommendations, so please give me your thoughts

What are you willing to do to keep diving?

I will add my thoughts so you have another non hardcore response :) Years ago I would have just put on the drysuit and jumped right in, but call it laziness or ... Nowadays I am solely a warm water person so I will just wait until I can get on a plane. I was supposed to be heading to the GBR in...

    Update Cairns GBR diving resuming

Do you know if anyone is running longer trips in Jan, we really wanted to make it out to the outer reef? We were booked on a 7 day outer reef trip with Mike Ball for Jan 7 but sadly they cancelled it and no longer have any ones planned in Jan.
