    Volivoli/Wananavu & shore dive?

I'll have about a week available after work in Suva, and - given the potentially bad weather - I'd rather stay in Viti Levu. Beqa Lagoon is already sold out, so, it seems it's going to be Volivoli or Wananavu. I recall reading that one of the two is more oriented towards divers than the other...

Very negative camera, and positive single strobe

Hello all, any chance I can decently trim such a rig? The way it is right now, the positive strobe is not enough to stop the camera sinking, but at least it doesn't unbalance the whole rig on one side. Any way to add a centered floater at the bottom of the housing? Would that capsize the...

Housing xchoice for Canon G7x MkII

Thanksalot, Divealot! That was exactly what I needed: direct experience with both. I spent now more time surfing for the Ikelite, and it does look more robust. One thing that it seems to lack is ergonomy, though: I think the issue is the camera itself, having that front ring to control...

Housing xchoice for Canon G7x MkII

Hello folks, help me out here. After quite some happy years with a Panasonic TZ10 and external strobe, I think I reached the technical limits of this camera, and want to upgrade, still within the compact realm. Spent some time reviewing, I'm eventually focusing on the Canon G7x II. But I...

    One-flight Malaysia from Singapore?

Thanks! Manado will be! I know about Lembeh very well, I'm a macro lover, but girlfriend hates muck. And it's said to be quite dirty, in all other aspects. I didn't know about Bunaken.

    One-flight Malaysia from Singapore?

Hello all, joining from Europe my girlfriend after a conference in Singapore (in September), we're considering where best to go diving in the neighbourhood. We prefer: 1) ideally, reachable with a direct flight from Singapore, to minimize timing 2) small, off-track sites (too much to ask...

    Diving off Jakarta

Matts1w, thanks! I think I'll end up in the jungle. Perhaps Gunung Halimun.

    Diving off Jakarta

Hello all, allow me to re-iterate an old question, since last answers date back to 2015: is it worth diving off Jakarta? I'll have a few (3-4) days free there, mid-December (rough seas? Risk of missing flight back?). I have Pulau Sepa, Pantara and Macan under my radar, the latter featuring the...

    Aurora or Mermaid I?

We're THAT close, but we can't decide which one to book. Mermaid I has the last budget cabin available, whereas there is still more choice on the Aurora. Experience/Preference? Thanks!

    Zoom lever stuck at depth

Didn't get any answer in the Panasonic forum, perhaps more readers here? The zoom lever of my Panasonic TZ10 case gets stuck at depth (never really checked the depth threshold that triggers it, but it's systematic: essentially, the spring inside has no effect in moving the lever back to neutral...

TZ10 case zoom lever stuck at depth

Hello all, as title says, my zoom lever gets stuck at depth (never really checked the depth threshold that triggers it, but it's systematic: essentially, the spring inside has no effect in moving the lever to neutral position when finger pressure is removed). Works perfectly fine out of water...

    Southern Cross liveaboard

Hello all, any experience/feedback to share about the above liveaboard? It's quite surprising a search in the forum (Asia) returned only one review from 2009... Thanks

    Care Of Scissors

Yep, tried olive oil myself in the past, but it is too viscous: they indeed tend to get stuck, with that kind of lubricant.

    Going Nauticam...

Thanks. And I'm reconsidering the 3" arm, too short, perhaps: having two 5" arms will give me an extra chance, in the few cases when I attempt wide angle.

    Going Nauticam...

The plan is a short (3") double ball as the one you describe, and the final long (5") ending with the strobe. Simple, but hopefully flexible enough. With a flat front compact and one strobe only, I hardly attempt any wide angle, so hopefully this gear will give me the flexibility to do macro and...

    Going Nauticam...

Hello all, I'm tired of the stiff arm of my Panasonic compact camera. Thinking to go Nauticam. From what I understand, I should be able to mount my Intova ISS 2000 strobe on the Nauticam single-ball arm, so this is what I concocted: Anything I'm missing/should be aware of?

    Intova arm: greasing?

Thanks fmerkel. Well, it says High Performance Silicone Lubricant, on the can... Doesn't matter, I'm going for some real arms. It's just difficult to keep spending money on a compact camera-based equipment... You never know how long the camera, or the case, will last. Cheers

    Intova arm: greasing?

So. I greased it with WD-40 silicone-based. No change. It's still unbearably hard to move. Time to move on: is the Intova ISS 2000 mount standard, meaning I could choose any one-ball arm to connect it to the arm structure? I'm thinking of a Nauticam or Ultralight tray + arm set. Any preference...

    Intova arm: greasing?

Yep, it's next step in my list!

    Intova arm: greasing?

I'm back on the same topic, after almost 3 years. And it's still extremely stiff, or even more than then. As a result of the sudden jumps experienced when trying to re-position it, it broke three times in the past 6 months. I really think I should grease it a bit. Any recommended lubricant?
