Greenforce 10 Watt HID with Flex II Battery and Charger - $400

Selling my Greenforce 10 Watt HID with Flex II battery, charger and goodman handle. I am the original owner of this light and it has seen minimal use. It's a beautiful piece of equipment (virtually indestructible) but my diving is extremely limited these days and makes no sense to have this...

Derelict Fishing Gear and Diver Awareness of It's Hazards

I had a 1 in a million mishap a couple years back on the Poling. We were descending in pretty heavy seas, low vis and were really working hard against the current which remained stiff most of the way down. Staying close to the mooring line was a requirement. For those familiar with the poling...

marking tanks with your lobster lic ID#

The sharpie and duct tape works and is really quick and dirty. For something a little more permanent, mail box letters are another option and they are very durable. You can by them at Home Depot. They are kind of metallic looking, though I think they are some kind of plastic. I've had them on 4...

Is night diving allowed at Old Garden Beach?

Same here. I've done many night dives at OGB and have to agree the locals are great.

    Latex seals breaking down

Myself and the 3 guys I dive with all have identical suits (Bare XCD2) and the exact same thing happened to 3 out of the 4 within 2 months of each other. Basically, the lady at my LDS explained that the latex just breaks down after a period of time which could be months or years depending on the...

    Cathedral Rocks......

The previous posters have pretty much covered it. The only thing I would add is to take a dry run down the rocks before you start carrying your stuff. The easiest line is NOT straight down and will save you a great deal of effort. People think I'm nuts but I routinely do this dive in double HP...

    Burlington Scuba question

My buddy uses them regularly for his Atomics and his AL legend. By all accounts they seem to do good work and and their rates are definitely reasonable.

    Diving in Naples, Italy

I used the same shop back in 2000. Here's the link directly to the shop: http://www.centrosub.it/en/index.php Not sure if you've booked your hotel yet but I stayed at the Covo De Saraceni and would highly recomend it. To be honest though, you really can't go wrong in Positano. The place is...

    "Chicken Wing" 101 please

Agreed and the only thing I would add is simply, don't over think it. It's as simple as it looks. As DA noted, there have been many attempts to solve a non-problem. One of my buddies has terrible mobility problems in his shoulders from over 20 years of masonry work and can get in and out with no...

Oahu – Dive conditions / Site / Operator recommendations

Personally, I couldn't imagine using a 7mm but again, YMMV. I have very little body fat and tend to get cold before most of the guys I dive with if that helps. Also, there was no noticeable thermocline so the temps seemed consistent to me from top to bottom which helps a lot. Thinking back, I...

Hockey & New Years in Boston suggestions?

Yeah, those are all good ways to spend a few days. If you hit the Museum of Science for a day, you can take <$10 cab ride into Davis Sq. to hit Red Bones for dinner and then walk across the street to the Burren (assuming you can still walk after RB's). The Museum of Fine Art is a must. If you...

Oahu – Dive conditions / Site / Operator recommendations

As far as temps are concerned, I was fine in an ill fitting (loose) 3mm full suit but was only diving 1 day so YMMV. I don't think a 5mm would be overkill.

Oahu – Dive conditions / Site / Operator recommendations

I went with Island Divers back in April and would recomend them. I chose them because I was specifically looking for a GUE shop and they were the only one. We did a wreck (some sort of Marine landing craft... can't recall the name) and a beautiful reef dive (technically a wall but the profile is...

    Quincy Quarry ?

In the past, Quincy Quarries was best known for the tragic but inevitable headlines of teens jumping from the surrounding cliffs to cool off during the hot summer months. These days, it's best known as an easily accessible urban rock climbing spot. The main part of the quarry has been filled in...

    Hello From Boston!

Well, a drysuit will certainly make your dive more comfortable but a good wetsuit can get you by if you're really motivated. Lots of folks from the here do it all the time - New England Lobsta Divahs - ScubaBoard

Alternative to Jetfins when you fall between XL and XXL?

Ditto. Turtles are exactly what you're looking for. Look around, you can find some pretty good deals from time to time. I think I paid $50 for mine. They have all the same characteristics as Jets with a foot pocket between XL and XXL.
