Santa Cruz Dive Boat Fire Incident Condolences

I've been in Scotland in an area with no wifi/bad phone signal and am just learning about this tragedy. Utterly horrifying and heartbreaking. I'll be donating to the GoFundMe. I know "thoughts and prayers" is a controversial phrase these days but these families certainly have mine.

    Diver dies in Bimini, Bahamas

Wonder if it's this poor soul... public obit says "died during a scuba diving accident." The dates would match up. West Kentucky Star - Obituaries "Dr. Burton Newman Stodghill, age 47, of Paducah, KY died March 2, 2017 during a scuba diving accident."

Ikelite DS125 Strobe, Canon G9, and Ikelite Housing

I'll check back to see if this system is going to get parted out. If so, I'm definitely interested in the housing if the cost is a bit of a break from the $489 this housing runs new on B&H (and maybe the G9, depending on the cost.)

WTB: Ikelite housing for Canon G7/G9

Hey folks, I'm looking for a 6147.09 housing for the Canon G9 (just got back from Coz with my giant SLR rig, and decided I need something that's a little easier with which to travel. I already have a G9 and I notice the housing is eTTL compatible with the DS125 strobe I also already have)...

    Bonaire trip report, August 7-14

For what it's worth - I'm posting this from Carib Inn (and can vouch also for Bruce's crazy good gear fixing skills - my tank fell out of the back of our pickup, bending the yoke on my 1st stage. He had me up and going in no time and for like $30. Friendly folks, great diving - we found two...

Great white off of Ship Rock, Catalina Island

Loving hanging out on a forum where I can say I'd love to see a GW outside the cage and not have people think I'm really crazy. ;) Went to Guadalupe in 2007 and am saving pennies till I can go back. Would definitely second the info in the article linked that says how visual they are...it was...

    Shark Diving in Guadelupe

Just a vote in favor of the Nautilus. I did the trip in fall '07 and it was utterly fantastic, trip of a lifetime. I'd do it again like a shot. Great staff & crew, and best of all - they have a photo album of the sharks! The staff can tell you which ones are which, how long they've been...

La Jolla provider flaked on me - any backup suggestions?

Hey folks, I just got stiffed by a tour provider in La Jolla whose PADI certification I stupidly didn't check - got down to the cove with all my gear in hand, big heavy wetsuit, camera, etc., that I hauled from Nashville - only to find the provider had left one single phone message last night to...

    SmartPro, JTrak, and Macintosh

Good to know. I ordered one too and I can't get it to work for love or money, either on my 15" MBP or on the 10" Dell my husband uses for work. Guess I'll shoot an email his way.

    Well, that was a bust...

Thanks! I do appreciate the two cents. To clarify: My hooded vest is a 3 mil. So I'll have 8 across the chest, five on arms + legs. I'm only doing two dives, so I'm hoping it won't be too big a deal (going out with ScubaDiverGirls.com...) Worst case, I may be able to cram my Henderson...

    Well, that was a bust...

Ha. Yeah, I'd really rather be cold than wear a 7 mil. Just can't stand the claustrophobia. I'm getting ready to do some kelp diving and I'm gonna wear a 2 mil, a 3 mil and a hooded vest. Hopefully that'll hold me in 60-some degree water.

    Galileo Sol - questions

THANKS OO!!!! Actually, I had already followed your lead - I do most of my computing on a Mac G5 and a MBP 15", but lately I found an offer for a Dell netbook starting at $200 - for that price I just couldn't resist. Yeah, I know, I'm gonna have to buy new software and all, but I'm just not...

    Galileo Sol - questions

Another frustrated Mac user. The issue, folks, isn't running the Jtrak software (although I personally am also quite underwhelmed with its feature set, which reminds me of a database program I used to run in Windows 3.1 back in 1996.) The issue is that there are apparently no Mac-compatible...

Has *anybody* gotten the Galileo to work on Mac??

Just a couple more data points: This guy bought the IRDA adapter recommended by Scubapro here, and it wouldn't work. He went so far as to contact Frobese, which makes the software for JTrak....and they told him he'd "have to wait for a new version of JTrak that supports that protocol." Well...

Has *anybody* gotten the Galileo to work on Mac??

Sigh. I'm SO TIRED of this. I just want a solution for Mac that will work without me having to cobble together a solution out of twine and baling wire, and that will have more than 10% of the functionality of the Windoze version. I've had a Galileo for a year now but due to a severe ankle...

    Egyptair Questions

Is it spotty enforcement? I've had horrible experiences with the likes of Qantas and British Airways - sometimes they don't check, but if they do you have to throw away stuff right on the spot. On the lost bags - thanks for the reminder to make sure my trip insurance is topped up!! Anyone...
