Yonaguni doesn't have that much reefs and life and is famous for their monument. I like Ishigaki a lot ! Also famous for their mantas!!

I second Ishigaki... island is smaller and easier to get around and the city center is small(er) so easy to walk around and go shopping and eating out. It’s also a bit more south so tends to be slightly warmer and with the manta cleaning station, they are famous for manta rays which I just love...

I dive exclusively around Tokyo and know Osezaki well. Both Osezaki and Koganezaki can be good for macro specially in winter time. But these sites are both on the West coast of Izu, it is hard to get to without a car and you will need a diving service from Tokyo. Also April and May is algae...

Everything is quite accessible land based. I really do not see the benefits knowing the costs involved.... For very remote diving sites it makes perfect sense. Ogasawara would be considered a remote area as it is 24 hours by boat from Tokyo. No airplanes.

Vanilla air is a good option to fly but check Skyscanner as well to compare. I prefer ANA and use my miles since I travel with my own gear. Daisuke is great. If he should be busy, you can also check with Jan from Piranha divers. Great guy. Lots of English options there.
