Okinawa Shore dive, Need Help Pls...

The USS Emmons is the one big shipwreck there. Look up Dauntless divers for tech/ccr diving. Matt is great for that !

    Okinawa/Yonaguni in December

Typhoon season is June. My first trip ever to Okinawa was in December and I had a blast. Still warm enough for a T-shirt on land (barely) and I dived a 5mm but I remember being a bit cold (21-23C). Like always it depends on wind strength and wind direction on where we could actually dive. If...

Finally returning to Okinawa, need dive shop recommendation

I recommend Piranha Divers but they are based in Onna. In Chatan, Reef Encounters is your best option.

    Air Fill at Ishigaki

Let me ask some friends...... *facepalm* at that response.... similar to what I got when I showed up somewhere with my sidemount BCD.

    Best diving location in Japan

Yonaguni doesn't have that much reefs and life and is famous for their monument. I like Ishigaki a lot ! Also famous for their mantas!!

Fun dives at Izu Peninsula - english speaking

Unfortunately, both DDT and DZT groups only dive in the weekends. I had an English contact at IOP but he also moved to Okinawa resulting in a lack of English support. Go to the DZT website and send me a message and might be able to refer you to somebody else.

It is wetsuit season around Tokyo till end of October, even end of November for most of us. I teach Deep Speciality too as well as TDI tech courses if Tokyo is more convenient for you.

Japan's Galapagos - Diving the Ogasawara Islands

In that regard, I like the Miyakejima or other Izu islands more. The 26 hour ferry to get to Ogasawara is just too long long for me. The 7-hour overnight one suits me better.

    Okinawa Diving

Lots of easy options in English for the main island and many offer boat diving to neighbouring Kerama islands. Jan from Piranha Diving will be able to help you out. Another favorite option of mine is to take a direct flight to Ishigaki island to see the manta rays. Contact Prime Scuba and ask...

    Kyushu dive recommendations

Hmmm some of my friends are travel bloggers and I was looking for coverage on Kyushu. This is all I could dig up: Fukuoka SCUBA Diving in Japan - Dive o'clock! English info is very limited indeed. Myself I am based in Tokyo and know many people in Okinawa but for everything in between my...

Spending a week on the islands in April

I second Ishigaki... island is smaller and easier to get around and the city center is small(er) so easy to walk around and go shopping and eating out. It’s also a bit more south so tends to be slightly warmer and with the manta cleaning station, they are famous for manta rays which I just love...

Noob questions for diving Okinawa & Osezaki

I dive exclusively around Tokyo and know Osezaki well. Both Osezaki and Koganezaki can be good for macro specially in winter time. But these sites are both on the West coast of Izu, it is hard to get to without a car and you will need a diving service from Tokyo. Also April and May is algae...

Quality diving WITH topside in Japan?

I can put you in touch with a diving guide about anywhere. Just had a dive travel blogger friend of mine travel throughout Japan and she does not speak Japan and seems to have worked. I like Ishigaki for the mantas and the beautiful beaches but Kyushu might give you more non-beach/watersport...

    Liveaboard boat in Okinawa area

Everything is quite accessible land based. I really do not see the benefits knowing the costs involved.... For very remote diving sites it makes perfect sense. Ogasawara would be considered a remote area as it is 24 hours by boat from Tokyo. No airplanes.

    Okinawa dive recommendations

Vanilla air is a good option to fly but check Skyscanner as well to compare. I prefer ANA and use my miles since I travel with my own gear. Daisuke is great. If he should be busy, you can also check with Jan from Piranha divers. Great guy. Lots of English options there.

Dive spot shouldn't miss in Okinawa

I love Manta rays so a trip to Ishigaki is also recommended if you have the time. Check in with Prime Scuba!
