    Cheapest dive trip possible

There is a person on Couchsurfing with 2 couches so that would be free accommodation. She is located at mile marker 102 in Key Largo, is that a good spot? When you talk about $35 camp sites, is that per car or what? I've done all my traveling in South America and am used to staying in hostels...

Hi, my buddy and I are trying to plan a dive vacation for December. It seems that Florida is our best deal because that's the cheapest place to fly to (Me from NY and him from Montreal). We are both 19 and don't have much money and are want to do this as cheaply as possible - cheapest...

    Dutch Springs August 17 - 22

Well, I'm going tomorrow. The helicopter seems to be cool, what else should I see if i only have 2-3 dives? Where are the thermoclines? I heard it drops to mid 60's at 35 feet. Where's the next one? I only have a somewhat loose one piece 7mm, 5mm hood and boots, 3mm gloves so I don't...

    Dutch Springs August 17 - 22

Hi, I am looking for a buddy for Dutch Springs any one of those days? I live in Westchester, NY and would love to carpool if possible. I have 38 dives, OW, Advanced OW, Sidemount, Nitrox. I would be renting a 7mm w/ hood and gloves and from what i've been told that would limit me to 50'...

OMS slipstream best fin for me?

That's what I'm trying to figure out and as I said in the OP that I know it's partially my fault but my fins were making it impossible for me to feel remotely comfortable in the water, either always feet way up with my Cressis or legs pulling me way down with Jet fins. Since you a bunch of you...

OMS slipstream best fin for me?

I'm looking for new fins. Here's some potentilally useful info: I am AOW and sidemount diver, likely to pursue cave/tech in the future. I did my sidemount training in cenotes in the Yucatan. I was wearing 3/2mm long wet suit, 5mm booties (pretty buoyant) 2 AL80s. I showed up with Cressi...

    First regs for sidemount

NetDoc, sounds like a cool setup. Sale is about to end on Cave Adventurers. I think I'm going to go for the new D3 and Zenith cold water for $650. It's 150 more than the D1 but is supposedly an upgraded version that fixes most problems people had with the D1. Unless anyone advises me against...

    First regs for sidemount

That actually sounds pretty interesting. What do you mean by double reg bungee? Do you just clip one reg to each shoulder? Edit: just looked through your pics. Looks like your regs are held together by a little bungee, is that correct? How does it detach if you need to share air...

    First regs for sidemount

For people that are still wondering, my instructor says that a HOG set alraedy broke because the high pressure seat is made of soft metal and that they are great for a lot of people but for intense use ( like year round ) most people do NOT like them. HOGs just got cheaper, can get SM set for...

    First regs for sidemount

What is GL basin? And, I did say it was the cold water D1's I see the XTX50 for $550 (and I would have to pay more to get 5th port, right?) on NESS, xtx40 is 495. Just to make sure i'm clear, this is the sidemount kit - xtx50 / dst with 5th port, 2 spg's, and long and short reg hose. Sells...

    First regs for sidemount

So here's the deal. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Apeks xtx50 or Hog D1 I live in NY and my LDS is offering me the Apeks xtx50/dst sidemount kit for $1250, first service for free, and after that it'll be $150 to get the whole kit serviced. I might also buy a computer from them so...

    First regs for sidemount

That is a good point. Although I am new to diving I would want to service my own regs. I know it's not much but I spent a good amount of time helping my OW and AOW instructor service Aqua lung first and second stages, and a few tank valves. I'd need to learn some more to do it on different regs...
