We've been going for 6 years now - last year we went 3 times. lol This last flight was 2 hours and 11 minutes straight through into Cozumel. To think we're so close to paradise.
I'm pretty happy with my SeaLife 1400 and taking my shots with ambient lighting. Now that I've had time to learn it a...
Another wonderful trip to Cozumel.
These pictures were taken with my SeaLife 1400 using Ambient lighting. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did - shooting them. :)
Diving with Eagle Ray Divers on the Miguelito
Blonde Naso Tang
FourEyed Butterfly Fish
HoneyComb Cowfish all...
JGriffin, I am so excited for you and cant wait to see your shots! Oh, and do tell about this UW egg gunt! FUN!!
Mike, great shots!
Stoo, thanks for the suggestions, I'm working on it. ASfar as 'crashing' on the reefs, I'd elect to miss the shot first
Thanks JGriffin and Wineaux
For a first time owning and shooting UW, It exceeded my expectations.
Now I've heard people voicing negative comments about the piano buttons being hard to work UW, I don't have large hands, if that makes the difference because I had no issues.
I got my Zena custom fit at Scuba Toys. I have had absolutely zero problems with the zipper and it's super easy to adjust the sides to allow additional room if needed when zipping up. DiveMaven has it right with the info shared on the Zena. A custom-fit Zena is the way to go!
Yeah, we weren't diving deep in these photos - had planned dives for these shots. I did shoot deeper when diving Palancar Horseshoe between 60-75 feet and definitely need a strobe shooting in those depths. That'll come later when we return to COZ this summer. Thanks for your comments. :)...
We were in COZ the same week and dove some of the same reefs... but one thing I didn't come home with - that you did... is these "AMAZING" shots!
"Wow, just wow." :)
I didn't plan on shooting video, my DH has the new GoPro black so I really didn't read up on the video, I just got the DC1400 a week before our trip to COZ... so here I am drifting along and what do I see in the distance coming right at me??? Yes, a Sea Turtle, so I put it in video mode and get...
Thank you Sail, I was shooting in "Infinity mode" and after looking at the pictures on my surface interval, right away I realized I needed to get closer... practice practice! I appreciate your suggestions. I am amazed at the true color of the DC1400.
Would still like to see what you came up with. Secondly, now that we're back in the states and have more time (for cropping, etc) , I've played around with some of the UW shots and what a difference. :)
Hi Pillpusher, in the picture right above your post we were probably between 60-65 feet UW and no, I didn't manually set the white balance - just used the > 25 feet feature. The series of pictures that were originally posted were no deeper than 50 feet. We planned that dive specifically for...
Thank you, great advise! I didn't have a lot of time to really work on these pictures as I was in Cozumel when I posted them. But I take what you say to heart and I understand the rule of thirds. Would love to see what you came up with.
Thanks again!

Thanks rdowney and brian!
The flash doesn't work UW, you have to rely on the ambient light. The focus delay isn't bad if you're diving reefs with mild currents. We dove San Clemente, Cedral Wall and Palancar Horseshoe solely for this purpose: mild to medium currents... allowing plenty time to...
SET #1 of 2 Sets
This is my first time shooting UW photos. First camera being the SeaLife 1400
No strobe, shooting in Dive mode >25 feet - Blue Water. No adjusted saturation set on my camera or adjusted once I edited them.
The 1400 captured true to life pictures - colors are very accurate...
I commend you for starting this thread knowing the reactions you'd get beforehand. In fact, making this post was quite brave on your part. It helps the rest of us who are not as expereinced as most divers who post on here.
Having said that, I have learned a lot from this thread and it's...
