    CMAS Brazil

Hello, I have a diver that got his Divemaster via CBPDS-CMAS in Brazil. He lost his card and we cannot get anyone to answer our emails or to offer any help. Does anyone know exactly who we should contact there? His Instructor was in the Military Circle of Sao Paulo. Thank you!!

    Instructors: teaching neutrally buoyant

Thank you for all of the feedback everyone! Happy Diving! Hey, I haven't looked yet to see if anyone else replied but one good example of why you may need to take it off uw is possible entanglement, or something going on with your gear you need to look at/work on. One can always hope your...

    Instructors: teaching neutrally buoyant

I wanted to get some feedback from different folks about how they are now demonstrating/teaching SCUBA OW skills while neutrally buoyant and those students that are struggling in the beginning with this. I really like how we are moving towards the very important neutral buoyancy focus, however...

New diver getting my certification, is my instructor doing it wrong?

Wow; I'm so sorry you had this experience. As with anything in life, when something doesn't feel right it usually isn't (you should report this person). I never forget the feelings I had when I first got in the water with SCUBA gear; I remember being absolutely clueless and relying on my...

    Smoking on a dive boat

Thanks. Yea, I am only quoting what the Doctors have told him. I really don't know too much about how all of it manifests or why. My ex-husband who was a smoker and a dipper was treated for the exact same cancer (and beat it somehow after many years). Go figure! I was really ranting because I am...

    Smoking on a dive boat

Obnoxious and selfish, hunh? No I see your point, I think. I want to be healthy. I don't want my son and my family to bury me early because of a deadly cancer that has invaded my body because of second-hand smoke or because my dive buddy is pre-disposed to DCS or other illness because of his/her...

    Smoking on a dive boat

I find that most of my personal-space air that is polluted by ciggarette (sp?) smoke is on the docks before and after the dives, unless it is a small-time charter boat whereas the Captain smokes along with the others (usually DM's lol). It's not my business what others take into their bodies...

    Dry suit boots/booties

Hello fellow divers, I have recently dusted off my drysuit (Whites Catalyst 360). I used to use it mainly for shallower (35') swift water river diving. Now I am in quarries and the ocean more often (all winter long) and I have found that the boots that came with it (Evo 3) and the fins I had...

    Effects of Diving on Pregnancy

Ashamed to say but going to in case it helps; I did not know I was pregnant (on the pill) and I was a DM so I was diving a lot (to depths to 80' or so). One day I became really sick on the boat which never happened and somehow it led me to a pregnancy test. As soon as I realized I was with child...

Since I've already got a lengthy thread....

Welcome from me as well! I do agree with Scuba_Noob; you do need to be thick-skinned here but there really is great advise and information. I take in everything I read, but in the end I am my own diver with my own abilities and interests. SCUBA is so amazing and so many of us have devoted much...

    Divers vs. Spearfishing sites

Great pics btw. And great points. Thanks for your input. Good point about the shark-feeding areas n such. I have never been in a non-captive shark-feeding environment (although I was bitten twice in a captive feeding environment; hence why I push operant conditioning vs. hand-feeding the larger...

    Divers vs. Spearfishing sites

Thank you for your opinion. Happy Diving to you :) ---------- Post added March 10th, 2013 at 10:43 PM ---------- I have devoted much of my life to animal behavior; certainly human behavior comes into play with that. I do not post things without much thought and proof behind my observations...

    Divers vs. Spearfishing sites

I want to reach out to my fellow divers but I first must state that I am not taking a stand right or wrong, good or bad, on spearfishing. I have noticed a change in the behaviors of the predators (sharks) on the shipwrecks I have been used to diving. I noticed that they are more curious and...

Why does every new diver want to be an instructor?

---------- Post added January 24th, 2013 at 02:59 PM ---------- Maybe those new divers will also strive to devoting their lives at perfecting their skills and techniques! I admire you and anyone else who does that, let us remember, we are all different and we do what we do for different...

Why does every new diver want to be an instructor?

Sounds to me like their Instructor did their job correctly; introducing them to a new world! Right on! I am bored with Professionals and Tech-divers that get big heads and think that noone else deserves to feel the way we do about something so amazing as diving and ESPECIALLY sharing that world...
