Trip Report Captain Don’s Habitat Sept 4th - Sept 11th

We always went to rum runners one night for the best pizza on the island after a night dive.

    Socorro Liveaboards

My wife and I were on the Belle Amie in 2018. I would say she hits all your must haves and also has large steel tanks as I used a larger tank. I can't say for sure if they had any tanks with DIN valves but guess they would.

    Cozumel COVID-19 updates

Great restaurant and craft beer. We ate there twice last summer on our trip. One of a few places on the island to get an IPA and the lionfish pizza was delicious.

Whale shark dive ops and rules in 2020

We went last year and you had to wear a life vest. As you said we found it hard to get below the surface to get good pictures and view of the whale sharks. It was much better years ago when you only needed to wear a wetsuit. I wouldn't do it again.

Southwest - no new June Cancun flight bookings

They probably are not allowing new bookings as airlines have deciding to block center seats. Therefore they do not have as many open seats as once thought.

Does anyone else think it is inappropriate for this poster to keep using this forum to promote his books? I would hope that the moderators would put a stop to his postings because this forum is meant to discuss scuba diving.

New Whale Shark Rules -- Question for those who have been

We just returned from a trip last weekend and did the whaleshark tour. If you never have seen a whaleshark you might enjoy it. For us this was the second time. First trip was about 5 years ago when we were allowed to wear wetsuits and no PFD. This time I would say that although the PFD...

Air conditioning on liveaboards in Socorro

I was on the Belle Amie this past January and can confirm we had air conditioning in our lower level room with I believe individually controlled thermostats. The rest of the main deck (Dining room and salon area) was also air conditioned. The outdoor gear area where you suit up is below the...

    Socorro crowded?

I just returned from Socorro on the Belle Amie. Overall it was a great trip and not disappointed at all. We saw mantas on nearly every dive. On two different dives we were in schools of over 50 hammerheads. On several dives the dolphins came and joined us playing right in our faces and...

    Socorro crowded?

I've booked a trip on the Belle Amie this winter and hope it is not as crowded as you indicate. Our last liveaboard was in the Komodo Islands and we only saw 1 other boat on just a single day of our 10 day trip. I thought all the boats left the mainland on different days allowing them to...

Bali in February, any recommendation for dive shop and hotels?

Flying Chicken......Let's try to get some advice from others that have visited Indonesia often. I have been there just last year but before we can give you some advice how long do you plan on being in Indo? Are you wanting to stay on the mainland or visit one of the nearby islands by...

    Warm water shark diving

Thanks everyone for your recommendations. After reviewing the pros/cons we have booked a trip on Belle Amie to the Soccoro Islands. It is not exactly warm water diving and has a long boat ride but we the prospect of seeing hammerheads, mantas and even possibly humpback whales sold us on it.

    Warm water shark diving

Thanks everyone for such a quick response. This gives us a number of ideas to think about. We usually book our trips out 1 year plus but have nothing planned yet for this fall. Perhaps a trip to Grand Bahama/Tiger Beach is in order since it is an easy flight for us. I have also previously...

    Warm water shark diving

My wife and I are looking to book our next liveaboard. We are both experienced divers and have vacationed multiple times in Cozumel, Bonaire, Grand Cayman, Roatan, Hawaii, Tahiti and most recently spent 2 weeks in Indonesia sailing through the Komodo Islands. We are now hooked on liveaboards...

Best of St Lucia, Grenada or Grenadines

We are taking a 7-day Windstar cruise out of Barbados and will visit St Lucia, Grenada and the Grenedines this winter. As this trip is mostly just to relax we will probably only dive 1-day. Any recommendations which island has the best diving? We are both advanced certified.

    Beer availability

I am will be back on Bonaire again soon and wondered if there are any groceries or restaurants where I can get an IPA. From previous trips to the island I have found that craft brews are not being imported.

Bonaire Crime - Our experience - Looking for input to share

I have always followed the suggestions to leave the windows down and leave nothing of value in the truck on my previous trips to Bonaire but worry what to do with the truck key when diving. The last two trips I was given a truck with the electronic key fob so couldn't take it underwater with...

Best resort / place to stay for a week of diving

While the threat of a hurricane in late summer/early fall could certainly be problematic we were there this past year the 2nd week of August. Fortunate for us we were able to dive the north wall all 6 days as that time of year brings the trade winds from the south. I'm not sure if diving the...

    Flights to Bonaire

Our preferred week is actually Aug 13-20, Sat - Sat due to family member schedules. I normally fly United through Newark and that week the flight is currently $1202. Delta through Atlanta is also the same price. I could fly through Houston for $1000 but it is a lot longer flight and we...
