Thanks! Much appreciated! That’s a big difference in conditions. Amazing the effect of the currents, but that’s part of the reason why the place is so special I understand! I’m really looking forward to the diving whether warm or cold
I know this seems a bit early to be asking, but I’m quite excited about my Galapagos trip next year already.
What sort of water temps am I likely to get? I guess I’m looking for justification not to have to take a dry suit with me. But if it really will be that cold I guess I’ll have to...
It’s been a few years (probably about 10) since I last dived in Bali. I’ve dived elsewhere in Indo, but time has come to head back to Bali. I’m looking at going in June.
Last time I was there I was based at Sanur and dived with Joe’s Gone Diving. They were excellent, but I’m not so keen on...
May as well be. Things are a little different in NZ to the USA, but there is a well equipped and staffed chamber associated with a large NZ teaching hospital in Auckland. And it’s free for anyone who’s had a diving accident including the chopper ride thanks to NZ’s ACC system.
As well as Lembeh, there is also Bunaken if muck diving isn’t your thing. You might be concerned about Sulawesi and the earthquake/ tsunami but that happened in Central Sulawesi which is several hundred km from Lembeh & Bunaken.
Also don’t forget Borneo - Sipadan and Mabul in Malaysia are great...
There are lots of things that the Scandinavian countries do very well - it’s just a pity that more countries don’t do things like they do in your part of the world!
Actually there are some people that get the generosity of our Accident Compensation Corporation for gratis - Tourists.
So if you have an accident here, including diving accidents, the kind workers of New Zealand fund your treatment. It’s pretty generous of us!
Thanks for all the input. It’s definitely helped me with making an informed decision on what level of cover to purchase. It also makes me glad to live in Kiwiland where we are very fortunate not to have to personally pay for medical costs from accidents (including diving) when they happen here!
I’m just about to renew my dive insurance for the next 12 months and I thought it might be a good time to reality check a few things.
I’m going to be diving in North America in the next few months and other than knowing that decompression chamber and medical costs are ALOT more expensive than...
Actually just been doing some more sorting. The latest photo I had trouble recognising was a giant black frog fish in the middle of some feather stars. Ok it’s not the best photo, but this one wasn’t even macro! I’m going to have to restore some pictures because I’ve probably deleted a better...
Just doing some sorting of photos I took in Anilao last year.
Several things keep coming to mind:
- I wish I could go diving again soon
- I wish I could go back to Anilao and Lembeh soon
- Excellent Dive guides make a big difference
- I definitely think the longer I was there the better my...
I’m not trying to flame you, just putting some facts on the table about the range of applications possible with eddy current testing.
Aluminium alloys aren’t my area of expertise so I’m not going to comment on 6351 vs 6061. But I have had a fair bit to do with stainless steels including...
As a professional engineer I have written specifications requiring NDT inspections on a variety of industrial equipment including large pressure vessels and tanks and large rotating equipment (hydro turbines and generators).
Eddy current inspections are a routine test with meaningful results...
Thank you to @UtopiaOnUtila for the improved photos. My friend on Utila hasn’t wanted to say any more about the incident - I’m pretty sure he knows both the victims and it’s really affected him on an emotional level.
I definitely agree with @Diving Dubai about the internal corrosion - the new...
Technical details aren’t always accurate in media in the developed world - this news report is from Honduras..... ...plus the main language in Utila is English and the mainland of Honduras is Spanish. I wouldn’t too get fussed over expecting the news reporting to give you the real true story...
