    Apeks reg service near Baltimore?

Hi. I just moved to Baltimore and I have four sets of Apeks regs that I'd like to get serviced locally. Can anyone offer a recommendation for a good shop and/or tech to do this? Thanks!

reading through some of these "support" threads has me rethinking my plan to replace my oxycheq analyzers..

Best short/light travel fin. Apeks RK3, Scubapro Jetfin or Hollis F2?

I tried the Eddys because the shorter length appealed to me, and I read claims that they could match my diverites for thrust. I didn't notice a big difference in thrust, but my buddies did... one was super annoyed after a long cave dive because i was moving so slow in the new fins, whereas in...

    New fin advice

OMS slipstreams are ALMOST a perfect fin. the material is amazing and the feeling you get when frog sticking is buttery soft, while you still move quickly. the only problem is the foot pocket. while it feels comfy and soft, it lacks stiffness in the top of the pocket and what happens (QUICKLY)...

    New fin advice

I've never heard of anyone liking the apex fins, so this thread is a first for me. if you like that style, the Eddy fins or jets are probably the way to go. I think the Hollis F1s come in big sizes, and they are a fast, capable fin. I dive the diverites, and having tried several others I feel...

Sidemount options... reposting in more correct spot

xdeep stealth tec or classic, forget the rec model. the Tea and the classic are perfect for for steels, alu80s, stages, no stage, warm water, cold water, wet or dry, they're travel friendly and bullet proof.

Atomic X1 Blade Fins for Tec

i don't think the diverite fins have a particularly high sidewall, but i use them to back kick pretty briskly. It's just a matter of technique. my concern with the X1 fins (that i didn't realize until i bought some) is the downward bend of the blade at the toe will reduce how wide the blades...

tips for correcting for wet lens distortion in editor?

ok. that's exactly what i was thinking, but glad to have a second voice. thanks. I'll probably shoot at a few focal lengths and save each as a preset for that position. good tip about mitigating perspective distortion. thanks.

Arm lengths for very wide angle cave-floor pictures?

the caves are pretty spacious. there are some restrictions, but my belly and tanks are a lot bigger than my camera rig.

    LUMIX LX10

"Sensitivity (ISO) The Sensitivity option on the Motion Picture menu also is available for selection only when the mode dial is set to the Creative Video position. (There is, of course, a corresponding Sensitivity setting on the Recording menu, which applies for still images.) Ordinarily, ISO...

    LUMIX LX10

I clearly mixed your concern with something else i was thinking about. I can look up iso info in my book about the LX10, though I can't speak with experience. I was speaking with a friend last night about ISO in caves, using this and similar cameras. He advised me to limit it as much as...

tips for correcting for wet lens distortion in editor?

I have a new rig, a panasonic lx10 with nauticam housing and wide lens. It's very important that I correct the distortion from the lens, because my images are for 3D modeling of the surfaces I'll be shooting. I use On1 Raw 2018 for image processing, and there is a function to create my own...

Arm lengths for very wide angle cave-floor pictures?

yeah, I know about the group. I started using photogrammetry in caves a few years ago, but nothing serious until a year ago in the Dominican Republic. Still, then was only a proof of concept mission. This summer I will be collecting data for my research, and the easiest way to go would be to use...

    LUMIX LX10

regarding white balance - can't this be modified in post? I've read several comments elsewhere saying that for stills they shoot in raw and leave wb on auto, then adjust as needed in post. I know you can't shoot in raw in video, so maybe that isn't a thing in video. I know you can reduce color...

Arm lengths for very wide angle cave-floor pictures?

Thanks, Chris. That's very interesting, but yeah, 5' in each direction won't work. But, tilting the strobes out will accomplish the same effect with shorter arms, with other issues coming up as they get too close, I think. XD {fish} I I...

Arm lengths for very wide angle cave-floor pictures?

Generally, my setup is a different league from helmet-mounted cameras, and if you do take an interest and move into that realm you will learn fast what the differences are. I do use a helmet cam to collect footage for review later if i have any concerns about what happened during the dive, e.g...

Arm lengths for very wide angle cave-floor pictures?

very cool, and an interesting idea for reducing the number of separate-able parts, but more than what i want to spend and wouldn't work with my six floats. thanks though.
