YES well worth the $36!
As I mentioned, I never had one for the RIX 4VX but we did have them to rebuild regulators and they work GREAT!
Only saying that without our guru @iain/hsm . I would do them 1 at a time as I believe that the orings are 90 durometer! I broke several and it is a pain in...
I second that idea! But it sounds like @1bubbleoff already purchased the parts and you might damage a head oring in the process as the head is hot. (Done that!)
Nothing like having your parts in hand. Putting those hard durometer orings on the piston and breaking one!!!! I said Oh S**T (don't...
Hello, Thank you for your posting!
Just to clarify only 5 of these cylinders are 3442 PSI and there for convertible valves.
The other 2 are 3500 PSI and not convertible!
How much are you asking for them?
Thanks!
Don't forget that the 3rd stage piston has to go in the correct way up! The holes in the piston pick up the air pressure and push out the expander o-ring!
I made that mistake once. It works ok at first but rather quickly stops producing air!
I was wondering about this. I was hoping @iain/hsm could chime in on this. (Must be on Holiday! LOL) I had one for the 4VX and you simply tap the piston in through the taper in the top and when the piston starts out the bottom you set it in the top of the cylinder and use a hardwood dowel to...
Quite an extensive (recent) talk on the topic including some great videos from @iain/hsm here:

It is VERY hard to diagnose from a short text document but..... (You gotta love the 'Butt")
It sounds like you lost the compression...
I will bet that it does not drop much! I have filled a LOT of tanks at the dive shop and I would hot fill them in approx. 5 min each. I had 4 fill whips. Then top them off the next morning before putting them away.
Now consider this. If you had 2 Alum 80/11 Liter tanks used down to 500psi...
@Golan68 That is a very good point that I don't think I made clear enough!
When I want parts from RIX, Say the 4th stage cylinder assembly I was quoted 8 weeks lead time. They do not have these specialized items laying around on the shelf. If memory serves, I was quoted 12 weeks for the...
Here is a good question for the brain trust here. I hope @iain/hsm finds this.
When I drain the condensate traps (coalescer) manually I never drain all the pressure (Blow Down) completely. When the condensate stops running out I let a little more gas come out and close the valve. I realize that...
@LanceRiley Thank you for doing that! I like actual data!
To add to what @tbone1004 said. Life at 4000 PSI would have much more wear than at 3000 PSI and shorten the life of this little tiny pump! I think it is clear in Michael's blog that he only filled scuba cylinders.
To accentuate this...
Hello Michael, Welcome back!
I must say that I do not know how you did it! 20 years of logs! I can not keep my dive log book up to date! Also thank you for all your detailed information! What a valuable resource for those of us with a Bauer 2 Jr.
I am especially grateful for the part about...
Before I start. You should gently remind @iain/hsm to show you and explain the piston storage tube for the third stage. If it is anything like the one I had (for the 4VX's 4th stage) it is very important and helps a lot getting that floating piston and all those rings back in the bore hole!
I...
I had a very special tool for the 4v from RIX. It was a machined aluminum tube for the 4th stage. I would drop the re-build piston in and use a hard wood dowel to tap it down into the cylinder. It would compress the rings and align it perfectly!
Is there anything like that for the SA-6?
I...
I did enjoy the photo of 5 cups of tea. One of our instructors spent a bit of time in England I believe it was, when he was a youth. He would regale me with many stories as we were going through a bit of kit, before our dives! Coffee for me as I am simply an untraveled American. (Sorry)

In the shop that I managed I built a system of: a 24 CFM compressor, a 3000psi bank, a 4500 psi bank and a nitrox bank. We also had a Haskel booster plumbed in so that we could boost any of the 3 banks. We used a separate shop air compressor to drive the booster. The shop owned approximately 90...
