    Nitrox generator wanted

Hi The liveaboard is is for 9 customers plus 2 guides. Doing 3 to 4 dives per day means we are looking to fill about 40 tanks per day, that probably means something lime a coltri MCH16 or similar. We don't have the compressor yet, so if anyone has a complete package that would be great. I...

Best agency for learning Tech diving - criteria given - honest :)

From a qualification point of view get yourself onto Koh Tao. As the world hub of diver training you will find all the major agencies represented within walking distance. Go and talk to the instructors and see who you get on with. You will find PADI/DSAT RAID BSAC TDI IANTD ANDI SSI. In my...

    Nitrox cylinder bands

Obviously just my opinion, personally I like a strong Hi Storker. Sorry, my 'trained nitrox diver' comment was off hand and flippant. I appologise. No offence intended. The orginal post was asking if there was a reason for nitrox bands on tanks for safety reasons. I think is is a good idea...

    Nitrox cylinder bands

Examples of entry level dive courses include the PADI open water course SSI open water or BSAC ocean diver. Sorry if you do not understand that terminology. I did not say entry level eanx courses.

    Nitrox cylinder bands

There we go. Another 'trained' Nitrox user who is unaware that 02 cells degrade over time and need to be checked regurlarly against 2 known mixes, eg air and pure o2 to confirm the cells are still producing a linear voltage change.

How To Choose A PADI IDC ??

Thanks for the like RJP, and I have jumped on the bandwagon, posting stuff about nitrox, compressors and the like. Just need to remember not to get carried away! Like everyone else qualified above AOW I am prone to thinking my opinion has been drafted to me on a mountain top on stone tablets...

    Nitrox cylinder bands

Not that easy without an analyser. Pointless unless you know how to calibrate the analyser and have o2 available to check the cell. I am a technical diver, all be it an inexperinced one. The techies know best attidue annoys me. The vast majority of divers in the world will never go near a...

    Nitrox cylinder bands

Technical divers are a small percentage of the overall number of divers in the world. They are obviously more qualified and experienced than the typical holiday maker diver. For me, it seems clear that as tech divers the duty of care is with us, when we bring potentially lethal gas mixes onto...

    Nitrox cylinder bands

A qualified compressor operator filling a non marked tank with pure o2 and leaving it unmarked, then it somehow ending up in circulation with recreational scuba tanks, seems a lot less likely than an open water student setting up his equipment on an unmarked nitrox cylinder on a busy dive boat...

    Nitrox cylinder bands

Sorry AJ disagree. I see you are A DIR guy, implying you ard a techie. At current no major recreational training agencey teaches its students to analyise tanks before use in entry level recreational diving. Analysers are not required equipment for these courses and entry level divers are not...

    CO Detected

Sounds like the compressor could use an oil change and possible service. Most filter towers don't use hopcalite, so aren'd designed to remove co anyway. (Possibly different story depending on local regulations!)

    Nitrox cylinder bands

Lets face it, in a busy dive resort environment, where the majority of tanks contain air, nobody is going to analyse every tank. Marking tanks which may contain nitrox, and therefore need to be analysed before use seems obvious to me. I appreciate stickers can trap seawater, encouraging...

    Replace Suunto Favor with Zoop

Suunto Favor, wow takes me back!! Obviously you have had yours a while and this shows the reliability of this unit. I am pretty sure the favor has ben discontinued for several years (10+???) but i could be wrong. The Zoop follows the industry wide trend towards making more cinservative units...

    Getting noticed as dive guide

Great option is to take a torch (flashlight) Makes a great pointer, and makes you instantly visible to your group especially when the vis is less than ideal. It should be pretty obvious you are the leader anyway as you will be the only member of the group swiming backwards watching the other...

How To Choose A PADI IDC ??

Hi RJP. Yes probably guilty as charged. I do try and use the internet to share some of my diving expetience, but there are a lot of forums out there, and yes, when I have something to promote, I do use the internet for that. Sorry if this causes you some offence. The original post, although...
