    Key Largo for my Birthday!!

A nice lobster And the lucky girl - she got spotted eagle rays on her first two days of diving post-cert, and it was my first time seeing them ever too! Cowfish (that's the right name, right?) Scrawled Filefish Over all, great dives! I hope she sticks with it and goes diving regularly...

    Key Largo for my Birthday!!

I'm tardy in posting this dive report but pics are finally forthcoming! Back in February or March me and my BFF from MI started brainstorming that we wanted to go do something near a beach for our birthdays in April and May. We went back and forth between laying on a beach, snorkling and...

    TekDiveGirl / Kimber Hawkens Thurman

Awww, she was wonderful! We watched the SB table at the Long Beach Scuba Show together a couple years ago. Indeed she got nearly 15 more years because the world just couldn't let her go that soon. RIP after a better life than most.

Marine Room snorkling - schools of rays.

Well, it's summer so viz is still terrible, so none of my pictures turned out well, but I did get some video. My snorkle report is from late July (one video of a lobster, just because) and then from today. Lots of rays out today, the leopard sharks, and there were schools of tiny little fish...

Marine Room - Leopard sharks are out again.

They've been hanging out for the past year our waters have been so warm. I think we may have actually had 2 different kinds too. Supposedly there were seahorses too, but at about 45fsw which I didnt go that deep.

Marine Room - Leopard sharks are out again.

here's that nice baitball that was floating around and the kelpfish too aN1yE1iM6Pw With this kinda viz, the spots disappear pretty quick as usual, they're pretty shallow UZhz_QzmOmY and don't like people This one's a bit rotund... pregnant maybe? about as deep as they got...

Marine Room - Leopard sharks are out again.

Well, it's summer time in San Diego which means sandy, blown out viz, but I've been hopping in regularly to go for a snorkle (these pics are from last Sunday) and we found a couple good spots with leopard shark activity around the grassy stuff south of the Restaurant. Life spotted includes 3+...

Dive Assure no longer offers coverage of you are diving within the U.S.

That's a shame. I'm really disappointed in the state of the recreational diver insurance market, for the non-tropical non-professional diver. It's not like there's just 5-10 of us.

    They're not cuttlefish...

I'm always cold, so the sharkskin and 7mm wetsuit really just... it was rough. I was in boots, gloves and a hood too of course. It probably didn't help that it was chilly and windy topside either. Thanks! ...where's the 'un-like' button...

    They're not cuttlefish...

Finally, my first dive in.... so long I can't even remember my last time hopping in! I had a fieldtrip up North to visit for New Year's and got the chance to get a dive in too :D The water felt like icecubes and I definitely saw 53ºF going on on my computer at my average 17fsw most of the...

Leopard Sharks are still here - Marine Room 10/12/16

Here's a bit more from last night: Nice and flat on entry! And tons of sharks still :D In fact, so many they have to go over each other There are the fish that are always hanging out in the surf zone. Viz was good enough I could actually see them last night- I went to go see the...

Leopard Sharks are still here - Marine Room 10/12/16

So the sharks spook a little less if I'm in a grass/kelp mat sort of ghillie-suit. There's a shot of my fins tangled up in the stuff: Here's the depth at the deepest I found them - when I stood up later, the water was about waist-deep in the middle of the shark party: This shadow is the...

Leopard Sharks are still here - Marine Room 10/12/16

I'm still bumming around town with nothing to do, so I thought to myself, you know, I haven't been to the tide pools in a couple years. I decided to go poke around the walls at Marine Room first before heading over and found the usual critters - Mmmm tasty sea grass. ugh mouth full...

    Snorkle Report: Marine Room 10/09/16

Another skate.. I saw a lot of these on this snorkle. Then all of a sudden... Jackpot! This is that shovelnose guitarfish that was just swimming along with the Leopard Sharks. All the flat cartilaginous fish and leopard sharks like hanging out right in the surf zone. I saw one or two...

    Snorkle Report: Marine Room 10/09/16

Ok, so I had an ok-ish snorkle last weekend, but viz was still a bit sandy so I decided not to post. Also, the thick fog just made the lighting situation hard (read: blurry pics). But then today was pretty amazing from the second I stepped outside. When I got to the beach, the morning was...

    Muffled ear after cert dives

I went down too fast a couple times when I was first starting diving and gave myself mild barotrauma... it fixed itself in a couple days, but definitely muffled hearing for a day or two. The reason I found out it was mild barotrauma is because I went to an ENT. I suggest scheduling with an...

The Breakwater, July 3rd 2016: salps!!

So, I made the trek once again up North and hoped for some diving. I heard it had been a bit windy throughout the week but was settling down towards the weekend, so I was hopeful for a dive or two. We showed up at Monastery after fighting through some traffic and it looked a bit ankle-break-y...

Where to get setup with a BP/W in San Diego area?

I think Ocean Enterprises (Clairemont Mesa area I think) might have some BP/W stuff for sale, at least they did the last time I walked through about a year ago. I'm assuming you mean backmount and not sidemount? UTD and a GUE shop are right next to each other (ok, a couple doors down in the...
