Water entry with the Camera & strobes

Well, I've seen many experienced UW photographer do giant-stride entry off drifting liveaboard in Thailand. They'd hold the camera above their head, do an extra-wide Giant stride entry to prevent the housing to touch the water when they go in.. I'd tried that myself last weekend, with Ikelite...

Why leave your gauges and octopus dangling?

My LDS that I worked with, use this following method for rental gear (without clips) and every time when we teach new OW students. for Octo, most of the jacket-style BCD, above the left shoulder buckel, would have a small sleeve. Then we bend the Octo close to the 2nd stage, make a small...

    exposure compensation?

As Jlyle said... In manual mode, you can't adjust exposure compensation.. 'coz you'd already control them yourself by using shutter speed/aperture control to achieve over/under exposure... Exposure compensation only available in P, A, S mode.. 'coz otherwise, the camera will usually try to set...

    Back from Koh Tao, Thailand

If you're just back, I'd assume you're a little "Too Early" in the season for Koh tao.. Also, the past week Thailand had been affected by the storm rampaging Hong Kong and China.. But, anyhow, I do agree that Koh Tao is mainly a training place. Next time you're in Thailand, Try the Andaman...

    Smart Com Problems

The most annoying audible alarm (any alarm) on Uwatec is their "Ascent Rate" alarm.. Wayyyyyyy too slow for me... (got it every single dive) I'd used Aladin Sport (Old model - black one) before, and now using the Smart Pro. (Wrist version of yours) both give me a hard time for ascent rate...

    rinse or not rinse bags

I'd rinse my bag after salt water dive. Especially on the Zipper... I almost had to ditch a bag 'coz salt crystal stuck the zipper. If you had salt crust on the zipper and can't pull it open, try some warm vinegar solution on the zipper... Sprey some WD-40 on the zipper may help prevent it.
