Are you an EXPERIENCED recreational diver?

you mention diving in strong currents: that's very site-specific. We face low viz and strong tidal currents in the Lillebælt area between Jylland and Fyn here in Denmark. But it is very different from diving in a kandu in the Maldives and using a reef hook, or on a wreck in the Florida Keys, in...

Are you an EXPERIENCED recreational diver?

I suggest adding diving from small boats: RHIBs et similia. Space is at a premium, kitting up can be complicated, and getting back on the boat is not always super easy. I recommend anyway to take a rescue course with any major agency: it is fun and you will acquire confidence in and out of the...

    First Dive Knife

I use a Victorinox cheap serrated kitchen knife, secured into a section of garden hose that I fix to the corrugated of the BC. I also usually carry a pair of EMS shears in my wetnote, in the pocket of my drysuit, and a small knife on the waistband of my backplate on the left centre side.

My youngest daughter (teenager) is scared of sharks as well, and she sticks to snorkelling "because divers are attacked more frequently...". I have explained to her that scuba diving is by far the safest water activity when sharks are involved... nothing I told her that divers actually PAY top...

    Ineligible log entries

I keep an electronic log (downloaded from the computer), but I try to include as many details as possible of the weighting and configuration, like drysuit undergarment, backplate weight, fins, tanks weight, accessories (canister light, etc) so I can refer back to my files to use the optimal...

    Traveler vs. Eclipse/Infinity series

I have both the Traveler and the ALU backplate with the chinch. My (very personal) opinion the chinch doesn't slip at all and can be easily fine-tuned in the water I have removed all the paddings in both rigs, and I do not feel any difference, even with a 3mm or with a Sharkskin. Maybe is the...
