At first I agreed with Joshk, thinking 100% would be the better gas for deco time. but after running them with 100 and 50, the deco time is the same within 30 seconds. 100% being 30 seconds faster. Personally I would still use 100%, but for this dive, time wise either is the same.

I keep mine clipped to both d rings and just ran a loop of shock cord from one of the holes in the plate, under my arm and then onto the chest d ring. Works well enough for me.

The oring on the valve face that the yoke mates too can easily be changed. If its the neck oring however, not so much.

I dive a 5ft long hose and at 6'3 there is almost no exposed hose when I route it under my arm and around my neck.

Most regs come factory clean for up to 40% O2. Yes, you can use any reg with O2 higher than 40%, but they need to be O2 clean. As an instructor, you should not put out comments like that, people will look to you, use any old reg that is not O2 clean and could get injured. Survival of the stupidest.

It has always been a requirement. It is part of the RSTC standards. What frightens me is you have all this experience. But yet you don't know that detaching a quick disconnect valve under water won't cause any issues. What else do you not understand about diving and its equipment?
