    PCB recomendations

Been out a couple of times with Panama City Dive Center (www.pcdivecenter.com) - good gear, good boats, good staff.

    Tank valve question

You sure it's not a convertible valve? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

What type of tank should I buy?

Myron: 1. What's your current level of certification? 2. What's your level of experience/number of dives? 3. What type of tank have you been using?

Low hanging of tanks, is this a specific fashion, ignorance, or normal?

You're correct, the vast majority of times the valve is turned on at the start of the dive and remains undisturbed throughout the course of the dive. Except when it doesn't. :) Here is a link describing one such situation - and so you don't think I'm "inventing" this for the purposes of this...

Low hanging of tanks, is this a specific fashion, ignorance, or normal?

Assuming, of course, you have both hands free.... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    PPo2 Dive Time?

Maybe I'm totally misreading your question - but based on my current understanding of it, a few items of interest: This is actually kind of a circular question, as the MOD calculation is based on your PPo2. Oxygen can be toxic to your system if its concentration levels get too high. That's...

    Diving facial hair/mask fit

I've been using the Trident Mask Seal for a couple of years now - works great.

Assessing DCI risk factors and adjusting dive plans

Climbing the ladder isn't necessarily a problem; getting onto the ladder in the first place may be a different issue altogether. I've been in seas where grabbing hold and getting both feet on was equivalent to a ride on the bull at Gilley's. Get past that, and the rest is easy. :)

    Deliberate task overloading for training.

Welcome to Shark Night!!! :D I'm sure the prospect of something similar these days would have liability insurance agents piddling down their collective legs - but surviving a good Shark Night exercise can do wonders for your self-confidence.:cool2:

    LDS won't viz my tank...

Good! Then you can hopefully make use of his shop in its last remaining days before it goes under. :) Why do I say that? Because he's not a very smart retailer. Ok - so you had the effrontery, the outright gall, to buy gear from someone other than him. That's water under the bridge now -...

Diving Technology: Then, Now and in the Future

1982: I got my first OW cert thru YMCA, Shark Night and all. :cool2: I was a college student, which of course meant half my gear looked like it had been picked up used from a Salvation Army store (which wasn't too far from the truth). Basic gear was a tank harness, baseline BC (after horse...

if you find a camera, do you give it back?

Think you need to find another dive shop.

    whats your cure ?

Immediately after the dive? I'm generally so parched from sucking tank air, I'm drinking a bottle or two of water before audible conversation is an option. Once back in PedestrianLand? Two drink limit - be it g&t, rum&coke, Irish neat, beer, or any combination thereof. I'm awful dern picky...

    Weight pockets and $$$$$$

Does your BCD use the QLR3 weight pockets? If so, then you may be in luck - Oceanic issued a recall on those in January of 2012. If your BCD hadn't already been serviced by the recall, you should be able to contact Oceanic and get replacements for both. BTW - how did you lose the pocket? :)

    What's your breakfast before diving?

A couple of granola bars, a couple of bananas and as much water as I can drink between the accommodations and the dive boat/dive site. Unless, of course, there's a Waffle House nearby. Then it's two eggs over easy, hash browns (scattered, smothered, covered and chunked), and a quart or two of...

Honest question for you dive masters instructors out there

If you roll your tank valve against an obstacle or obstruction to enough of a degree to partially or completely shut off the valve, it's rather nice to be able to open it back up. :) Actually, I encountered this situation last year, during a semicircular search exercise in a river. Visibility...
