Handling anxious feelings ... What worked best for you?

I've lost my fin during my open waters, and again last night after trying to do too much. I found that remembering that as long as I can breath, life is good.

Treading water for 10 minutes - how hard can it be?

I think that there is the point - it is in the how one treads. I know people who have been taught how to properly tread water and also those who haven't. Doesn't matter if they are a sinker or floater, the ones who know how to tread have a lot easier time doing it. Granted, the sinkers do have...

    today is the day

Thanks everyone. My next dive is planned for July 25 with the local dive group - assuming that I can get off work a little early. If not that day, I'll try to get someone on a monday to go with me. I'm excited to be part of the club

    today is the day

It was a great weekend. Everything went well and I found it so very cool. Diving in a pool is one thing but in a lake is so much cooler! There is an old wreck in the lake - between 30 and 50 feet deep - and it was so cool on the first time seeing one of its beams all of a sudden come into view...

    First Computer help

My budget is in the $3-500 range. So far, the ones I'm looking at are the Suunta Cobra, mares puck air, the aries XR-2 or the Subgear XP-H. Any thoughts?

    First Computer help

I've decided that my first major purchase is going to be a dive computer. I've started a little bit of research but still a little confused:confused:. I think that I'd like an air integrated console computer. It doesn't have to be wireless. I wish I had enough money for the Atomic Colbalt but...

    First milestone achieved this weekend!

Probably wont make it to that one... It is really hard for me to get saturdays off. Conseqence of working at the mall :( But question: Do you know any local divers that have time on Mondays? We have had a lot of rain so far this year. I can imagine that that would really make for crappy vis...

    Left ear feels plugged.

I've never had (that I've know) water come out of the ear. It has just felt plugged up for between a couple of hours to a day afterwards. I'm planning on trying different methods to equalize, as well as equalizing more often. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

About to do OW Cert. What should I know?

DivemasterDennis - Thanks! That's really good advice. I'm about to go out on my OW dives next month. I would'nt say I stress about it yet, but I am a little anxious - I guess that is a little normal - like any new thing.
