Go on out to Hood Canal...there you can stay at several state parks. Have you gone onto the state park website yet? Give that a try. On Hood Canal you can stay at PotLatch and that is pretty central to several dive sites that are shore dives. Also, if you want to boat dive you can get in touch...

I could go to Johhnys Dock and get it already cleaned and didn't need a license.

Just wanted to chime in...
There is always someplace to dive over here! Either by boat or shore. Some places are more sensitive than other in regards to current and tides...
My suggestion is to pick a few dates that work for you, let us know and we will tell you yah or nay and give you some...
My husband and I are trying to plan a trip at the end of Jan 09 to Kona...
We will be there Fri-Tues/Wed
I was there in 04/05 and am trying to remember the dive sites.
