This is what I am currently using as a backup...
I have 5 sets because I dive caves and can have with me 4 tanks at any one time. I have one open water reg set up so that I don’t have to monkey with anything when I’m single tank diving. And they are all the same so that I can swap any part from any reg if there is ever a problem it also makes...
Check your local dive shops yearly gear sale. They often will sell the used regs after a year and replace them with new. That’s how I got my Mk25/s600s and I love them. I have 5 sets of them now and buying them used you definitely can’t beat the price!
WOB depends on how they are tuned or detuned. You probably wouldn’t be able to tell them apart if they were tuned equally.
The cost of service is probably going to be less because they sell the rebuild kits and you can do it yourself or send it back to them and they will do it free the first...

Planning a day at Ginnie Springs with some friends diving and snorkeling. Only problem is I am the only certified cave diver in the group and if I am going to be that close it would pain me to not get an hour or two in the caves. Ultimately I would also like to dive with my friends in the...
A shower rod is something you can pick up cheap and should hold the weight of a BCD without weight pockets and or your wetsuit and reg to dry. Usually I don’t soak and wash my gear until I get back from a trip, just a good rinse and let dry. When I get home everything gets broken down and soaked...
There is a joke about the difference between a new dive instructor and a pizza.
A pizza can feed a family of four.
If you are able to make a name for yourself and work for yourself you will make more money than if you are working for someone else BUT you also won’t make any money if you aren’t...
Oh one more I’ll add. I inadvertently unplugged myself from my p-valve and then spent two hours in the water. Brrr! I had my legs filled to above tre knees with water because I didn’t get the bolt screwed in tight enough!
How about the first 100 in a new environment? First few cave dives were serious eye openers! Forgetting gear at home used to not cost me dives but now I triple check everything before it goes in the car. Also had some crazy ear problems (during a lights out air share drill) usually I’m the first...
I am selling my Hollis SMS 100 not because I don’t like it but because without my drysuit I am too heavy in the feet. It is size XL and none of the straps have been trimmed even though they were more than long enough. Only used like 10 times always in fresh water. Has a loop bungee modification...
If your interested I’ll be up at Ginnie on the 18th diving. The viz is always great and the water is always 72*. Send me a PM if your interested and I’ll give you the details.
Haven’t been there in years. Wasn’t really impressed with the viz last time but I’d be willing to give it another try if the dates line up with my schedule. What’s your reason for wanting to dive there? Just cause it’s close or is there something there that you are after? What is your current...
I was diving wet that week in a 2pc 5mill using LP95s and I think the bungee is just medium thickness the length I couldn’t even guess because we got it started above water and the adjusted it hovering just below the surface so the tanks sat level.
Right out of the box I was able to hold perfectly still and not tip forward or backwards and with a few adjustments everything is easily reached. Wish I would have gone that way first. Of course having a person that is familiar with the rig help set it up probably helped a lot.
