Selling his & hers complete gear

Because of medical reasons I have to quit diving :(. Wife has agreed to stop also. I'm 5'9" 140 and wife is 5'4" 110. All gear has been serviced 2 years ago and well cared for after each dive. Our last dive was June 2015. We live in a small town North of Phoenix Arizona and will travel to...

Contact info for the Dive House?

chrism16, I also like to dive later in the morning and then a late afternoon dive. Normally I do the 11 am and 3 pm dives. The resorts at the South end of the island are closer to the dive sites and therefore go out several times a day. These are single tank dives with the SI being back at the...

    Post vacation gear cleaning

I have a plastic 55 gallon drum I cut the top off and use to soak my gear after a every trip. I even installed a drain valve at the bottom. I use Simply Green, soak for a day and then hang everything up to dry in the shade of the patio. I then move everything into the house into a spare...

    Allegro & Prodive April 26 - May 3rd

Blues Runner, tell me more about the gear & storage area! I've been to the Grand several times. I truly enjoyed the "concierge" service. I've read the Allegro uses "milk creates".

Would you dive with this op?

Thanks to the OP for this thread. I've been planning this years trip and not sure where to go. I've been to the Grand many times in the last few years. But after Ricardo (front desk) treated us poorly last year, never again. I did like the previous on-site dive shop Dive Palancar! I did not...

    Which dive hotel is this

I've been to the grand 5 times. Cicopo's pictures do a great job, but the dive shop area has changed just a little. The rest of it is spot on!! The dive prices are different and I heard they changed dive ops this year.

    Tipping on a liveaboard

WOW, I must be a cheapo. In Feb 2009 we flew to Australia and did a 7 day live aboard. It cost us $3,695, plus a $500 fuel surcharge. That comes out to just under $600 per day per person. If you subtract a descent hotel room ($150) and say 3 meals at $50 per, that leaves $300 per day for...

Diving your own profile in Cozumel

A few resorts have shore diving, that is not DM lead. You could follow your own profile on those dives. Keep in mind, the reefs are protected, which is one reason for a DM.

    DFW airport questions

We just returned Aug 10th from CZM. Once we landed in IAH it took us 50 minutes to go through Immigrations, customs, re-check our bags and TSA re-screening. I'm going to look into FlyFrountier out of Denver. It's seasonal, but looks like I can leave PHX at 9am and arrive in CZM the same day...

    Water Tempeture

Just update our log books for the week and the water tempeture was a consistant 82 degrees. For the most part, the current was a 1. Very nice. Time to go north. :(

    Where to stay

There are many places in Cozumal that are AI (which include alcohol) but none that I have heard of that include scuba diving. That being said, you can get an AI and pay only $30 per dive at some places (pre-paid).

LD shops, am I asking too much?

They should refund the mask. If they continue to "give you a hard time" then I would start looking for a new shop.

How to deal with a power inflator that is stuck open at depth?

In Belize, while on a live aboard, the wifes inflator stuck open. Luckily, we were on the boat and just about ready to jump in. Once home, had it serviced and it was salty inside. I clean our gear meticulously after ever trip. Never learned the "removal" trick (run away inflator) in OW or...

    Bad experience with LDS

You walked out the door with the gear. Sorry, but you need to pay. Ask yourself this, if you rented a car, drove 1 mile to your house and never drove it again for the weekend. Would you be responsible for the cost of the rental car?

    Taxi Mafia

I thought I read (not so long ago) that there were two prices for a taxi. 1 for locals and a different price for non-locals. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

    Boat lost divers -- recovered

Last year while in Belize on the Sun Dancer live aboard, they checked for SMB's and gave out loaners if you didn't have one.
