    Woman bit by Bahamian shark

I do get a little concerned when we do training swims for triathlons off of Daytona Beach, we swim in a group of 8 to 10 plus the coach. I feel pretty safe doing that; however, the few times we saw a fin break the surface near us we head back to shore in a hurry, problem is I'm usually the...

    I need some basic advice!

+1 on what everyone has said. Enjoy Ginne, lots of eye candy and a fun place to cool off. The caves and caverns will still be there when you get the training.

    DRIS Shorty light customer service

DRIS’s excellent customer service is not news here on SB, everyone knows that they have one of the best reputations in the industry. But IMHO they went far above and beyond with me. I bought the shorty a while ago, when they first came out. It’s a great light, especially at that price point...

Looking for spots to Lobster off of St. Johns, Flagler or Volusia coast?

There are some artificial reefs in that area,I never dived them but some look like they are within your 10 mile limit. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&source=embed&t=m&vpsrc=0&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=200542028138522298116.00047894ff52969191856&dg=feature

    Diving Ft. Pierce area

Thanks everyone for your responses (I promise not to mention the lobsters).  As most of you may know diving in the Daytona area is not that great; although we do have some large lobsters here if you're willing to go out 20 - 30 miles).  We tend to drive a lot to dive sites...

    Diving Ft. Pierce area

Hi I just recently heard about shore diving at Ft. Pierce Inlet SP and Claude Pepper Beach. I did a google and SB search and haven't found much info on the diving aspect. Is it similar to the beach dives in Broward (Dania, LBTS, Hollywood, etc.)? Is slack tide best? Any details would be...

    Best florida instructor?

My recommendation will be a little biased, but I am very comfortable in making it. I would recommend talking to Tracy Grubbs at Spruce Creek Scuba in Port Orange. I have taken a few courses with them and find him and his staff to be very competent. They will not give you a certification if...

What would you say is the most important to buy new?

I buy used too, except for electronics (lights/computers). My LDS buys used equipment from people who either can't dive any more or gave it up for whatever reason and sells it at a good price inspected and serviced. I bought most of my tech stuff through them. Another LDS I go to is a gold...

Curious: Are you LDS loyal? What do you use them for?

There five shops in my area two are too long to drive to and one trashes a brand they don't sell. I happen to like and use both the brand they trash and the one they sell, so I have no use for them. I'm pretty loyal to the two remaining shops. One I use for air and servicing (he is mentoring...

What things in diving give you the willies?

Waiting on the surface for the boat to pick you up on a night drift dive and the boat taking its sweet time. Sailing through the "tongue of the ocean" and stopping for a cooling off swim wondering what is lurking thousands of feet below you and if they can hear you swimming.

    New DRIS Impact Light

Wow I was thinking of getting a pair of L&M GoBe 700 Wide for my Intova Sport Setup. Now these look like it would be a better light system (140 v 60 degree and 1000 v 700 lumin) and less expensive to boot. Both are on my DRIS wish list now, thanks a lot.
