    Improving my skills

Diving locally is always a good idea, just getting those extra dives under your belt will make you feel more confident and comfortable in the water. If it has been awhile since you were in the water, get back into a pool. Either practice skill in the pool with a buddy or take a refresher...

    More on Alcohol

According to Dr. Taher, 80% of all accidents treated in their chamber are caused by dehydration following excessive alcohol consumption the evening before the dive. People need to understand the impact of alcohol on the body, and the bodies ablity to off gas. There is so much more to be...

Diving Concepts "FLEX" series dive suits

Don't remember the pricing, since I purchased my suit last year. Diving Concepts suits are great. I got a custom suit with several upgrades and love it. Maybe the higher price you got has some of the upgrades in it.

How frequently do you practice basic skills?

Prior to becoming DM's my husband and I would go to Dutch Springs in the beginning of the season and practice some skills. Since becoming DM's we get practice everytime we are in the pool with students as well as the monthly open water check outs. Becoming a DM has made me a better diver.

    Roatan in July

For the past 6 years we have gone to Roatan, Inn of Last Resort, the first 2 weeks of June and the weather is great. Warm, sunny and maybe 2-3 hours of rain in our 2 week visit. It is the rainy season on the main land, but not the island. We find that the sand fleas are dependent on the...

    Inon Lens Caddy ?

I have the Olympus 5050 with PT 15 housing. I loved using the macro and WAL on my old Sea and Sea so am looking to buy them for my 5050. I have seen the Inon lens caddy that is part of the strobe arm set up. The site says that it is compatable with the Ultralight system. I wondered if anyone...

    Why Divers Die

As tragic as all these deaths are, we all can certainly learn from their mistakes. They remind us of the importance of being comfortable and very familiar with our own and ours buddies equipment, proper weighting, equiptment/buddy check before getting in the water, refreshing our skills on a...

    questions on sherwood maximus

I have had a Maximus for several years and love it. The comfort of the hose under my arm and the regulator position with the swivel are great. Sherwoods are great regs in general. My husband has a Brut from 1985 and uses it weekly in pool sessions. My first was a Blizzard from 1990 and is...

    SoSa airlines

We used SoSa airlines several years ago. They got us to the island without a hitch. the one draw back we found was having to clear customs in San Pedro Sula. Because you will be changing airlines customs must be cleared there, instead of on the island. Just leave enough time. Leslie

    New Wreck off Roatan

Heard of the manager of the Inn of Last Resort that a new Wreck was sunk off Roatan. The ships name is Odyssey and it is 300 feet long, 90 feet high and 50 feet wide. It's shallowest point is at 40 feet, so all levels of divers can enjoy it. It was sunk off Mud Hole in a sandy patch that is...

Trip Report: Inn of Last Resort, Roatan

Getting to Roatan can have it's ups and downs especially when you figure that it take at least 2 if not 3 or 4 flights to get you there. The first 2 times we went we flew TACA and had delays of up to 24 hours with our luggage. This past time we took AA to San Pedro Sula and then to SoSa to the...

    Suunto Cobra Quick Disconnect Question

My husband and I each have the cobra with QD and have always been careful to rinse while connected, drip dry then release. The QD parts don't look waterproof and I not conviced that water wouldn't damage them. I would just err on the side of caution.

    Air-Integrated Computers

I have air integrated and would do it again. By having everything in your computer then it makes your gauges that much smaller. The computer should also estimate air time remaining for you. If you choose to down load it to your home computer, then you get all kinds of other info. PS If...
