    Tanks In Cars....

when travelling long distance I make sure my tanks are secured. The biggest issue I have had is a few dents in the box of my truck, and a valve rolling open, which gave people at a light beside concern over the loud hissing. Once thing to think about however, a friend of mine that is a...

    Instructor Forum

Hey there, been awhile since I have been on Scubaboard, but back and am now an instructor. I thoughts at one point there was a forum for instructors to discuss topics related to teaching. I have looked through a few times but do not see one? Am I missing it?

Best Brockville Area Dive Sites To Take Newly Certified Diver?

I would also recommend the Conestoga ( if access is open again in August) and the Rothsey, and of course Centeen Park. These will make for excellent shore dives and are great spots for practice and training. As for potential boat dives, I would say the Gaskin is the best and only option at this...

Cave instructor recommendation who allows back mount

No problem, really enjoyed learning with you. I have a bottle here for you, however I attempted to mail it but there seems to be an issue mailing food products to people across borders. I will bring some with me in November, I will bring enough to keep you in supply between my cave trips.

    Newfoundland Wreck Diving

I was recently in Newfoundland for some wreck diving out of Conception Bay South, with Ocean Quest Adventures. This is my second trip to Newfoundland diving, my last trip as in August of 2016. The wrecks in Newfoundland are beautiful and I was surprised at how blue the water was and the great...

    Conestoga Info

Thanks for the updates folks. Water still high everywhere. Was out on the river for the weekend and the water is high all over, lots of debris in the water as well. The current is pretty strong as well. A number of divers on the Lilly got a hell of a ride.

    Conestoga Info

A few people asking so thought I would start a thread. Any info on the Conestoga access would be great. Last I heard the water is low enough that the road is exposed again but still blocked to traffic. Was hoping to have a course there next weekend June 10, but looking like I might need an...

    High Water Levels Causing Problems

I was on the Conestoga about two weeks ago and the water was right up to the edge of the road way, a few more inches and it will be over. Since then the Seaway Authority has opened up the dam farther in an attempt to bring levels down, however with still rising water in the lakes, the river is...

    Newfoundland diving ops?

Hi there Rick. I just got back from Newfoundland a few days ago, my second trip there in the past 6 months, there is some amazing ( but cold ) diving there. There are four wrecks that were sunk by German U boats in WWII, they are beautiful dives. As well there is the old ore mines on Bell...

'Try Drysuit' days in GTA / surrounding area?

Keep an eye out for DUI days in the summer, they usually do one out in the Brockville or Alexandria Bay area, which I know is a long hop from Toronto, but you could mix it in with some good diving. As well if you are one that likes to travel a little ways for a weekend of diving, July 15 is...

    St. Lawrence River temperature

Water is still good and high in the river. Last I was in and reports from divers, vis is not as good as it could be this time of year due to all the run off and crap filtering into the water. Current is up a bit as the dams are running open to try and bring the water levels down. Last I read the...

CAN you add a backplate to the Dive Rite Transpac XT Harness?

I just had the cam bans go through the soft harness only and had no problems and I was using a steel 150 for single. Had no issues was great for reducing weight on my belt. I would not say it made it more or less stable, but also made it possible to hook doubles to it if so inclined.

CAN you add a backplate to the Dive Rite Transpac XT Harness?

I did this exact set up for several years in the beginning when I was single tank diving. I slid the backplate between the outer harness and the back pad on the rig and then just used the bolts through the harness plate and wing to hold it all in place. That was an older harness but I am pretty...

    St. Lawrence River temperature

I was in at the Conestoga last week and the water is very high. The road down to the Conestoga was almost flooded over. Current was fairly strong, and a lot of debris in the water from shore run off otherwise vis was decent. Temp was about 45 degrees. The river authority was saying that river...

    Braces and Long Hair Advice

I am a guy but have longish hair. I would recommend a thin hood to keep it under control when diving. As for after I have a brushing my dive bag and deal with combing it out.
