I have a Pioneer, has close to 50 dives on it and no problems so far. As was said before, if you are doing dives that require a tough wing (wreck, caves, etc) then the eclipse would be a better choice. However, in those cases you may want dual bladder designs anway to have a redundant system.
I have the Hammerhead plate without the handles. When I ordered it, I could not justify getting the handles on mine. The harness is always attached to the plate, so why would you need any more places to pick up your rig? I honestly think I would never use them. Also, if I recall correctly, I...
I use a Hammerhead plate and one-piece STA along with a Pioneer wing. While the Pioneer does have a built in tank stabilizer, there is no way it's as stable as the big STA. The other reason for the STA is the extra weight. It's nice to remove a few extra pounds around the waist.
I use one of the ones shown here: http://www.cb-molding.com/pics/ScubaMate.jpg
Cheap, easy to use, Octo never falls out. Octo is released easily when needed, and will even rip if OOA buddy just yanks it.
Found this one too while browsing, seems like a strange design that might be useful...
I use the DUI Weight and Trim classic, seems like a more rugged version of the W+T II. I love it, won't go back to weight belt. It doesn't slip off and is very comfortable to wear. Highly recommended.
The only time I have ever found a need to close the dump valve is when I'm on the surface and want to inflate the suit a bit if I'm waiting to descent. I always dive with the valve fully open.
I have never found it to "get behind", the vents are supposed to dump air as fast as the other valve...
I prefer the cuff dump myself, easier to manage air. When I vent I just raise my arm, less "rolling" to move the bubble to the front of the shoulder to vent. Also, I have found that shoulder dumps vary depending on where they are placed, some work better than others.
Hey Bjorn, I'm in Vancouver as well, dive a Pioneer on a Hammerhead plate and use the DUI weight harness. I LOVE the setup. I used to use 36lbs of weight with a jacket style BC. With the Hammerhead plate and one piece STA (their cold water setup) I now only use about 16 pounds in the...
I'm having the same issue with my neck. Didn't happen at first, but after 40 or so dives with a latex seal my neck started to get the ring. It hurts, and looks like hell. I'll have to get one of these...
I have a Pioneer on a Hammerhead plate. No problems so far, great setup. Like the others have said, I don't dive wrecks so snags are not as big of an issue. Sure, it could happen, but I'm not worried about it right now. If I rip it, I will replace it with an eclipse, but right now it's...
You can actually put the files on a web server and link them directly into firefox using Javascript, no need to download the zip and install. Firefox will do it for you.
Have a look at the function window.sidebar.addSearchEngine
It takes params for the src file, the image, and the name.

Thanks for the tips, next time I'll try shaving the morning of the dive to see if that helps. My dive buddy uses KY already to get his wrists through the neoprene seals, so it won't be a big deal if I put some on my neck.
I'll let you know how it goes.
It's all rather confusing, compounded by the fact that I'm still renting the suit. I tried a few neoprene seals in the past, but they leaked so I'm not in a hurry to go back.
Decided to bring back this ancient thread rather than start my own. See, I can search :)
I'm getting the same problem now. I did about 40 dives with latex seals (wrist and neck) with no problems but on the last three dives I got a red ring around my neck. I don't get a reaction on my wrists...

DSS stuff is nice, but getting up there in cost. I purchased a Hammerhead plate, stainless but I dive cold water (Canada). If I were you, I would get the AL plate.
