    Bruce Bowker

I was fortunate to stay at Caribe inn and met and talked with Bruce several times. He was a genius with my Scubapro regs He spent 30 minutes tuning one up for me one afternoon but refused to charge me. I joked that he would go broke with that business model! Over time, I witnessed many examples...

    TSandM -- Lynne Flaherty

Like many on this board, I never met Lynne but it seemed I knew her well through her thoughtful and well written posts. In particular, I appreciated the excellent medical advice she gave. My deepest condolences to Peter.

Using a backplate pad for storage

I stow an SMB in a Halcyon Storage Pack. It is several years old so the elastic at the bottom is a little stretched out but it still keeps the pack closed.

    Little Cayman or Cayman Brac?

The diving is similar but I prefer LC because the reef starts shallow and you can do a multilevel dive while staying on the reef the entire time . At the Brac, the reef is too deep to do that.

    Cayman Aggressor in Late August

I was on the CA about a year ago. We were entertained by several grey reef sharks at LC but I thought the Huge barracuda was more exciting. From a distance, cruising just off the shear wall, it looked like a shark because of the dark color and the mass of fish swimming in it's shadow. As it got...

Roatan - single female looking for a safe place

I recommend dropping by Cocoview, the resort across the channel from FI while you are staying there and check it out. Also, look into Reef House Resort. It satisfies 1,3,4 and especially 5 quite well as seating at meals is family style. The downside is no long beach walks possible. Good luck...

I dropped by the store this morning to pick up a few things but the windows are covered with kraft paper. It appears that Divesports is no longer open.

    Q & A for Suunto Diving Products

Chris, I thought I was getting low fills recently and complained to the dive operator. However, it appears my Suunto Cobra (Air/Nitrox Integrated Computer Console with Compass) is not reading tank pressure correctly. I added an additional analog pressure gauge to the other HP port on the...

Has anyone stayed in the Aldora Villas?

I've stayed in the Courtyard Norte, one of the $85 rooms and in Barracuda. If you're ok with a small room with very little storage area and no view, it will probably work for you. It is kept clean but I didn't feel that comfortable in the Courtyard room as I felt somewhat cramped. The other...

    DiveSports

I dropped by the store this morning to pick up a few items. The shop was not open. However, there was a sign on the door stating it was closed due to college commencement activity and it would be open on Monday. Unfortunately, the sign was not dated so I am not certain if it opens this monday...

Little Cayman, Provo, or Grand Turk?

Hello dsimmons and welcome to the board. I would rate the quality of diving the three you mention as follows: 1. Little Cayman 2. Grand Turk 3. Provo Perhaps a better chance to see larger animals (grey reef sharks) at Grand Turk. I like the dive shop Reef Divers and staying at Little Cayman...

Anyone remember Sam McCoys dive lodge on Little Cayman?

I was there in 2005. Sam had a lot of stories about the island. One that I remember, is his account of his car accident with the only other car on the island!

    Cozumel Diver Death 2/2012

sclkqw, I do not have any advice on who to talk to, but if I were in your situation, I would contact the U.S. Consulate Embassy. Perhaps the Consular agent in Cozumel can provide some assistance with obtaining written details of the accident. Follow the link below for address, telephone number...

    Armor 110 rolling bag?

I used one for a couple of years. Like you mentioned, the low weight got me interested in it. The pull strap, rather than a handle is a little annoying but manageable for short distances. I wouldn't want to pull it more than a few blocks. It seems a little awkward in stop and go situations...

    Housing Care Between Dive Trips

I remove the o-ring and clean it with soap and water. After it dries, I put it in a clean baggie and store it in the (closed) case.
