    April 1st Aurora Res Dive

We dove Aurora Res today (April 1) and I thought you might like a little report. Air temp was 55°, partly cloudy and windy. No one has been down there for quite awhile. I expected the vis to be decent, but it was pretty typical. Maybe 6’. Tens of thousands of crawdads, a few bass and a big...

Does anyone have a fairly pristine DSS Wing that they would like to sell? Preferably 26# or 30# lift. Would also consider a full rig. $ or talk to me about bartering for something new, if you prefer.

Scuba stuff to talk about in Rocky Mountain Region

It looks like this hasn't been a very active area for posting in quite awhile. I certainly haven't been around Scubaboard for awhile, but have been diving and enjoying life in the meantime! We used to have an annual Rocky Mountain Oysters get together..Maybe its time again. It would be good to...

    Suggestions for Scuba Challenge?

Greetings, I thought I'd reach out to SB for some fun ideas and discussion. In the interest of bringing landlocked divers together, improving skill sets, and promoting diving, we have been running monthly scuba challenges in a large 25 meter x 20 meter x 4 meter pool. So far, the contests...

    Sunny Santa Rosa

Well, Ron Frank and I are here with a good sized group from Colorado. Weatherman is predicting near 90 degree temps. Tonight we saw, a number of nudis, an octo, some Halameda ghost pipefish, and a school of barracuda, but that was a slide show.. We'll post on the actual qualities of Blue Hole...

Blue Hole next weekend? Feb 11,12

It looks like my wife and I have reason to go to Sante Fe next weekend. If we go, I'm going to dive BH on Sat the 11th. Anyone else interested? RMOs don't seem too active lately. One way or another, we probably ought to plan a get together. There are a lot of you that I haven't had the...

    Heading to Blue Mesa

I'm planning on being in Crested Butte for the Independence Weekend...probably through the 5th. We are bringing dive gear and will likely dive Blue Mesa over the weekend. Another possibility is driving up to Lake City (50 miles south of Blue Mesa) and diving Lake San Cristobal. It is very...

Heading your way, who wants to play?

My wife and I are heading to Vancouver Island for some diving, camping and adventure, June 3-13. We will likely start in Victoria and work our way up to Nanaimo, over to Tofino, and back, but we aren't opposed to changing plans entirely and going all the way up to PH. We are familiar with the...

    BP/W is just a tool

After recently watching a linked video here on SB with a few divers wearing BP/Ws, long hose/bungied alt, and jetfins, and then struggling mightily to get through a coral swim-through without banging off the walls or crawling along the bottom, I felt compelled to comment. Here on Scubaboard...

    BH Oct 9/10 report

Had to work Friday and didn't leave Fort Collins until 5pm. Bad traffic all the way to Co Springs and then finally arriving in Santa Rosa at 1am made for a shaky start to the weekend. 7am Sat came quickly, but it was a beautiful day and we were ready to play. A quick continental Bfast at the...

Scubatoys has an un-moderated Vortex thread.

I should say, Scubatoys has an active Vortex incident thread. It is moderated. <link deleted by op.> While the thread here on SB was much more informative and enlightened, some malicious posts forced mods to close it. For those who have been following the thread and want to continue...

    Earned, Un-earned or Predisposed?

An incident occurred while teaching last weekend that I feel needs to be discussed. Some background: Instructors and DMs in landlocked areas will often teach classroom and pool sessions for a month and then journey to an Open Water site for certifications. It is not unusual to have an OW...
