I still can not get the light to go on on either computers. I do not think it is a defect. It said in the book to depress the button for a few seconds...
Maybe I turned it off in a "battery saving mode"??... Have to go back and play with it more at home.
I will, Daniel... Just reporting what I have noted on 3 "accelerated" deco simulations.
The first one did not have a deep stop... just the 10 ft long deco min, which I can not remember
The second one did have a deep stop, but it was like only slightly exceeding the NDL.... and it DID have a...
That is why I think deco on recreational dives factors in SAC (or poor SAC) and small air supply (80cu ft)..... Where as technical computers like the perdix... have two different mode - tech vs rec.... that probably factor in single small tank for rec mode.
And it might skip the deeper...
Actually not...
That was what surprised me...
The deeper depth was only required for shorter deco time... I believe it was like only 10 ... 2 min..
The 10 ft 38 min was my third dive testing the computer.. I think, like the article said... there is compensation for lack of air and...
I am guessing if I had to do mandatory deco... I will ascend to 20 ft... and check the timer to meet the time required at 10 ft..
then ascend to 10 ft once I have met it... to see how much extra I need to do..
As the puck does not give you the timer until you are between 8 ft and 12 ft...
Never had.. and never will...
over 320 dives and never had obligatory deco once.... But if it did happen... the 10 ... 2 thing will now not confuse me..
it will simply go 10 2.... then 10 3... and up and up to 10 38
Wish the mare's book would explain it easier..
And occasionally... there...
Actually, the mares puck DOES give you credit for doing deco at 20 ft if you chose. It just does not show it on the screen.... It just simply promp DECO 10 ft .... XX min..
But as you go between 8 and 12 ft... you can see it was subtracting from the decom time clock..
Here is another computer with options at 10 ft, I think the 10 ft maximizes air use for nontechnical dives:
Sunto.com
You can adjust the last stop depth for decompression dives under Dive settings / Parameters / Last stop depth. There are three options 3, 4.5 and 6 m (10, 15 and 20 ft).
So... you want to say " you took a DM class and you don't know??"
So... you want to say " you are SOLO diver and you don't know??"
It seems like all these famous posters on SB are the ones who don't know... except how to flame others who asked honest and frank questions........
It is sad when...
So the know it alls can only flame... and when it doesn't match what they believe it should be ,.... they said that the poster is an "internet diver"... a "SB troll".... or "made it up"...
The biggest bunch of bull mierda on SB is that people who doesn't know S%%t thinks they know it all...
And for the comment to folks who doesn't believe the 10 ft deco stop exists:
"This tells me that your instructor has a massive gap in his/her knowledge. 'The usual stop is at 6m'? Utter nonsense. On dedicated technical diving computers such as the Shearwaters, and in most dive-planning...
Here is another thread that confirms my finding on SB:
""
Mares Matrix computer.
When we wend beyond the ne-deco limit, the computer showed me to do a deco stop at 3m! which is quite strange and my instructor was also surprised to see a deco stop at that depth, since the usual stop is at 6m.""
There seems to be only 1 person who actually owns a Mares Puck, who actually have put it through an accelerated decompression protocol like I have...
And the rest are just flamers and know it all... who never have actually put THEIR OWN computer through the test.... and so could NOT tell me...
You are a master instructor, and you can not explain to a diver how his computer work?? And why it makes 10 ft safety stop instead of 20 or 15??
All have flamed me, and yet... the Master Instructor can not answer a simple question without putting others down??
What right do you have to do...
Apparently the mares puck is in the group D: ""Group D computer users should be sure to reserve enough air for the lengthy stops at 10 feet that might be required and have the necessary buoyancy control at that depth to be able to do the stop comfortably.""
Each computer is very distinct... some will factor in the air supply. Deco stop can be either at 20 ft or at 10 ft:
The Conclusions
All of the computers compared (and their siblings) are equally useful for decompression-stop diving. One cannot make a decision about which is most conservative...
I seem to keep a tight short line when I inflate. I usually do it about 25 ft, as the inertia to launch a large burst of air will pull me up a few feet.
The momentum to move me allows almost 1/2 of the sausage to fill, and I winch myself up slightly negative. Then fill rest of tube from...
