Rigging my underwater camera, how I did mine

Well, okay, here is one (1) photo : I was really more interested in solving or easing the burden of carry cameras underwater. During my Red Sea trip this past summer, we were doing a shore dive and the point of entry was a long way from the staging area. A PU truck carried us part way...

Rigging my underwater camera, how I did mine

The WWL plastic cap is bouyant. I drilled the two small holes near the edge and ran the cave line through and a small bolt snap, tied a knot and burned it for security. It clips off to the yellow WWL tether during entry, exit or when the lens needs to be covered. I clip the cap off to the...

The WWL was mounted in the caddy for demo purposes. I normally would only carry a CMC there.

    Scubapro Go-Sport vs Go-Sport Gorilla

Size 11 New Balance or Nike athletic shoes translates for me into Size L for Go-Sports and Go-Sport Gorillas. Which also translates to size R in Mares, size XL in the SP Jet Fin, size XL in Slipstreams. And size L in the Eddie Flipper.

New Old Regulators for new diver.

Not in particular. I chose a Mark 2 Evo for my last few trips because of it's reliability and simplicity and ruggedness. And coupled with G250s the performance is more than adequate.

New Old Regulators for new diver.

No, not at all. Evo I believe stands for evolution and the Mark 2 Evo is considerably evolved and different from previous Mark 2 regulators, larger piston, replaceable volcano orifice, tighter IP, higher flow rate and externally smaller.

At which point is the air coming out from the cylinder subjected to ambient pressure?

The gas released from the HP cylinder finally reaches ambient pressure of the surrounding water when it is discharged from the demand second stage. That last drop in IP pressure would occur at the LP seat and orifice. Each 10 meters of seawater equals 1 bar (14.5 psi) and therefore...

Tokina 10-17 vs Sony 10-18 vs AOI 09P

Well, it is like this. Yes Well, the bulkhead will install and with an adapter to the Micro-USB from USB-C it all seems to work. I place the bundle and adapter under the camera where the booster battery would normally ride. Depending upon mission, I can use the booster or use the charge port...

SeaFrogs A6xxx 6" dome with Sigma 16mm distortion issue?

Sometimes you need a close up diopter on a lens behind a dome. In fact, I think this same question came up a few years ago and it was a diopter as the solution. The lens has to focus on the false image created by the dome which is often too close without a close up diopter. Are you sure those...

Scubapro Balanced Adjustable - have you seen this version?

That clip is a hardware store hitch pin clip I use during tuning for various Scubapro regs. It allows me to quickly pop the clip out and change springs or whatever I might want to do. It is in that regulator because I am setting them up for my wife to dive with this spring. It is possible to...

    Shearwater Peregrine

;), I would not really toss it in the trash. I would either give it away to somebody who could use it or save it for a rainy day, for some particular dive where that sort of info overload might be useful. Since it seems possible to get the Tern TX without, that is the best option. We have two...

    Shearwater Peregrine

It looks like you can set up the home screen however you like and configure the display. It even has a "Big" number display. I might buy the Tern TX but not the transmitter. I have no need for that foolishness ;). I would use the Peregrine as primary and the Tern as backup and compass. I will...

Scubapro Balanced Adjustable - have you seen this version?

I worked for a Scubapro store in the 70s and up until I completed grad school in 1980. I bought one of these 109s and it came with a twin port Mark V. I was given the other by the owner of the store for services rendered. In those days I preferred (and still do) the AL 1085. One of them was...

    Shearwater Peregrine

Answer me this. If I bought a Tern TX and elected to toss the transmitter in the trash would the compass still work and would there be a bunch of ------ spaces all over the screen? Because the only thing, and I mean the ONLY thing, I do not like about the Peregrine is the lack of a compass...

    Questions About ScubaPro 109 2nd

I think "dramatically improved" is dramatically overstated and exaggerated. I suppose if you had a 1970s unbalanced Mark 2 and a conventional downstream 109 and your cylinder is down to like 300 psi as you reach back to pull the J-valve and the second stage was set at full tank IP, yeah, I could...

Scubapro Balanced Adjustable - have you seen this version?

Not all 156 have a CE stamp but all large exhaust valve 156 that I have seen have the CE stamp. The only NIB 156 regulators with CE stamp that I saw in the day were all matte finish chrome. I think the ones with a matte box and polished diaphragm cover are field replacements as is the case with...

    Questions About ScubaPro 109 2nd

With a BA second stage, be it a 109 or a G250 or whatever, it is possible to set the spring force/orifice such that the regulator very slightly leaks with the knob fully out. It is then needed to turn the knob in about a half turn to stop the leak (not free flow, a leak). When the regulator is...

Intermediate pressure lag on Scubapro mk20

If you are a DIN user simply purchasing the (current) Yoke to DIN conversion should solve the supposed problem.

The future of SLR cameras in dive photography?

I am pretty sure "phone" and photography do not belong in the same sentence. No, a phone in a plastic case even if it had a way to trigger strobes is like comparing a HotWheels car to the real thing. Interchangeable lens cameras are far superior to a phone but I would settle for a compact with...
