HI - This IS a Capitano-H...but a very old version. Some of the parts, such as the final head and corresponding valves, have been obsoleted or are difficult to come by. My company does have the parts manual (free) and a service guide (small fee). We also manufacture a good many parts for this...
After reading all of the posts, here's my recommendation after 35+ years of experience worth: Get yourself 2 Bauer Mariners (used is fine so long as low hours). They are reliable, easily repaired, and parts are readily available. Next choice would be 2 Coltri MCH 13/16.
In either case...
The Coltri and Bauer are very much different designs so i doubt the causes of this symptom would be identical.
On the Bauer, check the o-ring seal around the exhaust valve of the 3rd stage. Also, be positive the leak is at the nuts and not some other origin. Pics of the area in question could...
It's a Bauer. Model Capitano-H. Probably early 1970's. The coolers may be corroded but, unless excessive, probably still functional. Bauer's last a good long time and yours is probably worth keeping. Best thing to do is to simply run it and see how it does.
FYI, my company manufactures and...
Hi Jim -Gabe may have overlooked this: If it is, in fact, a K14-85 then its only rated for 3500 psi. A couple of pics would help us sort this out real quick.
Thanks
Hello group: My company is in search of any hi-psi compressors in almost any condition. So if you have any old machines taking up space...convert them to cash. Especially Bauer, Mako, and Hamworthy.
Oh, btw, the US Military has begun to test and qualify our compressor parts. A number have...
How many running hours would you say are on this machine? Typically, the reed valve has more life in it that the valves on other stages. This is because it experiences less heat and work load. As to the final piston/sleeve...its common for this to wear.
Try comparing prices at New Parts -...
CHANGING OVER TO SYNTHETIC OIL: Be sure to remove all residue of the natural oil. Flush with mineral spirits (running the machine a minute or less with min sprits in place of oil), fill with syn oil and run 10 minutes or so, then refill with syn oil.
CHANGING VS REFURBISHING VALVES: The...
Am not sure of these grades (micro vs. macor poros). Is there a brand name and product number? Also, be sure to keep the material protected against atmospheric humidity as this will surely deaden the activity of the material in short order.
I have a workshop manual for this old timer. Will send it free of charge if you let me know the address. Please email to me a LKaplan@Lawrence-Factor.com
Silica Gel adsorbs moisture BUT only at lower temperatures and lesser capacity than Molecular Sieves (MolSiv). MolSiv is MUCH more efficient, drying down to -102f, and has moisture capacity up to 22% of it's own weight. Also has some capacity for Carbon Dioxide (CO2).
It would probably restrict the air blast...but then, it would probably restrict the effluent discharge as well. If it did work you would certainly have to extend the drain cycle time.
Beware that if all of the effluent doesnt get exhausted, it will eventually build up and back up into the...
Kooz ~ the trick is to dampen the pressure blast (4000psi) before the air goes to the "exhaust muffler". Naturally, we offer a complete silencer kit which includes everything you'd need...but i think its around $500. You can probably figure out something of your own...maybe an old scuba tank...
It's normally adjusted via the pressure switch (sensor)...of which there are probably 2. One is oil pressure and the other is air pressure. You most likely will have to adjust the final safety valve setting. One word of warning....be certain of the max pressure rating for the compressor and...
Yes, the "plug" on the side of the machine is the dipstick...used to check oil level. There should be an imprint or mark near the end...the oil level should be in this region.
Oil filling is done thru the "snap cap" at the very top of the machine. I see no problem with syn oil. Just be...
