I've stayed there many times and it is my preference since I don't need much to make me happy. I have become friends with the owners and staff, so for me it is like a reunion every time I go there.
I always stay in a studio room because of the larger size and the small kitchen in case I want to...
Veterans of Bonaire only plan on how and when to go there. Plan more than that? NO WAY!!
They know better. Hell, I considered making a spinning dart board with all the sites on it to take with me. Spin the board during morning coffee and let the dart fly. Good a plan as any IMO.
Solo travelers can be found on Bonaire all the time. That's what I have been doing for the last 8 years after my favorite buddy had to stop diving. I'll dive solo only when I want to. It's easy to find someone to hook up with. Not a problem.
Sadly, Jerry did pass recently. He was well known and highly respected.
There are several people on Bon who have excellent knowledge and can conduct a very informative and enjoyable Naturalist course. I suggest inquiring at your dive operator. If you can contact and hire Susan Porter for a...
Kharon, Lac Cai is an advanced dive but not a stressful dive when you go with Bas. Don't miss it. I never do when I'm there. BTW, he likes rum and coke.
That is an excuse for doing what you want to do and is not the law on Bonaire. Take that statement to STINAPA next time you are on island and let us all know what they have to say in response. I know a park ranger or two down there that would really be interested in hearing how you managed to...
Question #1. Can you spit?
If the answer is yes, You have my recommendation.
Question #2. Do you not like to spit in your mask?
If the answer is yes, enjoy your search for something that works as well and has the same price tag.
I wanted to resurrect this thread as it has some excellent advice that I have found 100% accurate over the years since I started it. Although (for several reasons) I did not complete my DM training, I have had many situations over the years since then where I felt like I was playing a role of...
"departure tax is included in your airfare"
Really? First I've heard of this. Never was before. Did I miss some procedure change Bonaire started with the airlines?
I agree that a compass is not really necessary on Bonaire. But, there are times when it can and will come in handy and there is no better place for a new diver to practice compass navigation than BON. It's that forgiving when you make a mistake. Perfect time to get some experience. MHO.

Yes, lion fish are now there as of last November. Second generation has also been confirmed so they are now reproducing there as well. Spotting and marking them will be part of every dive orientation.:depressed:
Below is a link to the fund raising effort on BT. I sent an email to Mr Chalk(GM at CDH) asking if help was needed but did not recieve a reply. I suspect they are already prepared for their arrival.
Bonaire Talk: Wounded Warriors 2010
For those that will be on Bonaire in Aug, a group of Wounded Warriors will be there the second week of Aug to complete their open water certification. If you happen to run accross them, show your appreciation.
