I did a bunch of dives in Hawaii recently on my newly refurbished D400's (courtesy of rsingler), they worked fabulously. Given how well they worked, I don't know that I will be in the market for D420's any time soon. Unless Robert says it is infinitely better than the D400...

Gee, I'm not a tech geek (just a diver) but I just love this thread. I've only ever known the D series so I don't have any other expectations but what it does (which is work damn well for a ridiculously long time). Maybe I'll get an S600 for my pony bottle reg. :)

I bought my wife an Ikelite housing for an Olympus 1050 SW and it produced decent pictures paired with the Auto 35 flash system. I also free dive and the rig (with tray+flash) is relatively small and neutrally buoyant and was a breeze to snap pictures while free diving. It's not nearly as fast...

I had two floods in a C-5050 Ikelite housing (2 dead cameras, so much for redundancy). O-ring was fully sealed, no apparent explanation. Floods were big (3/4 full each time). This was after a thorough inspection + TTL conversion from Ikelite. I haven't contacted them yet / shipped it back so...
