brighest compact, lightweight light for in and out of water

I'm looking for a small but really bright light that I can also use out of the water. I feel like I have read thousands of reviews and only a few of them work out of the water. What do you guys recommend?

Recommend a strobe set for compact camera

I am shooting a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS5 in an Ikelight housing. I want to get an entry level strobe that is easy to use and works with this camera but is flexible and would work with another camera when and if I upgrade. What I really need is a little more distance on my shots. The built in...

    Recommendation from Denerau

This wasn't a dive trip. It's our 25 anniversary and my husband doesn't do wet. I am reading that Nadi isn't the best for diving, but here I am on Denarau. Can anyone recommend a shop for a few dives? No cattle boat. Dive master with 1,000 + dives. We got in this A.M. I brought my reg and...

Best time to visit and dive Fiji

So, my question is precisely the same. From what I read in this thread, people are saying February and autumn can have cold water and possible typhoons in Feb. My questions is what is the good time? When is the water clearest and warmest? When are we less likely to be typhooned?? Is June...

    Information needed

It appears this question is very recent. I know my favorite shop, Deep Blue will pick up there. Also, their fast boats means less time getting wherever you want to go. When possible, Deep Blue splits boats by diver experience. So if there are enough divers, the experienced divers are on a...

    Vomiting at end of dives

I have been known to "spew" on the surface even though no problems with the dive. I have personally pinned it down to coming up too fast from 15_20 feet after the safety stop. If I consciously slow that last bit down, no problems.

    Fire Coral/hydroids sting (help!)

I did the same thing years ago. None of the standard things worked. I came back to the mountains of New Mexico with an itchy welt that was driving me bats. DAN said to debride it. I went to my doc who said, "It goes against my grain to debride intact tissue. Let me call a friend of mine." She...

    Cuba - where to go

I'm Dive Master with halting but passable Spanish. (female and old) I'll be in Cozumel and want to hop over to Cuba for maybe 5 days. Haven't the foggiest where to go. Want good diving and a room with a breeze or something to cool it a bit. Need to keep it on the cheap side. All suggestions...

Medical Issues of Diving at Altitude

Here's what I am wondering about. I have seen enough people go to the chamber in Cozumel due to sloppy profiles, skipping deco stops and too many days of repetitive diving that my question is from the emergency responder point of view. If they dive up here at at altitude (I just found out we...

Medical Issues of Diving at Altitude

I am an EMS instructor. I have been teaching about the body's response to high altitude vis a vis climbing. In Colorado there are several dive sites well above 5,000 feet. One in particular is at 9,000 ft with a depth of 68 ft. Assuming the diver lives at sea level and does things stupidly...

    anxiety

As another firefighter/medic (only an intermediate) I can relate the worrying about loss of control. We are accustomed to being in control. That's what we do. You can learn to be in control of yourself underwater. You can't control your environment anymore than you can control a fire or a bad...

As an unofficial Invadee, How do I find the Invaders??

Dear ScubaJenny, I know the island fairly well...including some nice low priced gems off the beaten path. My Spanish is rotten but passable and improving and gets me around. I would love to meet any adventurers that don't stay hidden in the midst of the main herd. "Have knowledge....will...

Some Musings on Etiquette (Hey what's that) When in Cozumel and Other "Stuff"

Hear! Hear! on what Jenn said about tipping. People in Mexico work exceedingly hard and the DMs and crews rely on the tips. While you're at it. Don't forget your hotel maid. She works for not enough peanuts to feed a very small elephant. Every day, you come back for your surface interval to...

As an unofficial Invadee, How do I find the Invaders??

Dear Cardzard...I think you misunderstood my query. I have no thought or intention of crashing a private party. I saw the schedule and I know exactly where they are, but that would be beyond rude. I had neither the time nor money to be an official part of the invasion, but I thought it would...

As an unofficial Invadee, How do I find the Invaders??

I am not officially an invader since I happened to be here anyway and $$$ is a bit tight so I can't dive off a boat every day (doesn't limit my shore diving) It's Thursday night and I know the invasion is soon. As a non-official invader how and where can I meet up with some of the wonderful...
