    PADI rescue course

Breathing techniques for low air consumption

Just another point, for me I've noticed a huge benefit from simply being cardio fit. So simple fitness, along with all of the above is a HUGE help with gas consumption!

    Question about depths/deep dives

I think it shows great maturity from you as a newly qualified diver to point out that you were uncomfortable with this dive, esp when they were encouraging you to do it. Well done! And it'll be no time before you're well capable of that dive!! :)

    PADI vs SDI

I never suggested that PADI was the best. PADI don't offer 1-2 day classes, the Dive centres do. And most of the time these centres cut corners in some way. Our OW classes span over 3-4 weeks. I could be wrong, but I would imagine that PADI have more certifications, therefore I would...

    PADI vs SDI

This is the most uneducated quote i've read on scubaboard to date, and personally I take offence to it. It's childish and immature. :soapbox: I've spent 8 years going through the PADI system, and there's been things that I've disagreed with along the way, but I endeavour to provide quality...

    Using resuscitation mask in water

not really relevant. The body uses 4% oxygen with every breathe, We exhale 17% oxygen, the Co2 is not a big deal here. I agree with trtldvr in towing the diver from above, using 2 hands on the mask ensuring a good airway opening. for the record i do carry a mask on every dive in my BC pocket...

What gear to buy for beginner?

Be careful about buying the likes of BCD's and regs before you get certified. I always tell students to buy the basics, mask fins and snorkel, but hold out on the other stuff until you know exactly what your looking for. So many BCD's and Regs have different features and I like to try out...

ok, so this is the third time i've re-introduced myself to this forum, but i've just booked myself on week in the red sea, so no better reason to come back to scubaboard and cause a kerfuffle :D Booya!!:eyebrow:

Can I get bent in a pool? Terrible pain in my joints.

Guys getting bent in a pool is a very real possibility and has happened in the past. If you spent over an hour in the pool and you ascend and descend regularly enough and too fast, there is absolutley a chance of possible "bending" (;)) I'm not saying this is what has happened, but it most...
