    solo diving

I've been "solo" diving off and on since I started diving. When I first started diving I tried to always dive with someone, that someone tended to be whoever else showed up with out a buddy and also tended not to have the best buddy skills or dive experience. When I can get away with it I dive...

Had my new black diamond BC out for the first time today

Like the others said drop the belt, use the intergrated and add to the trim pouches. I have a raider which is like the ranger with options. I use about 2/3 rds in the pouches and 1/3 rd in the trim pouches in back. On the surface don't fully inflate and lean back. Also if your using 16-20 lbs...

I have a Garmin GPS 76CS. I used it with a float bag to mark spots while doing my divemaster map. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=251#featureTab

    Diving Blue Lagoon this weekend

Blue Lagoon dosn't have much in the way of comforts but is fine for local diving and getting wet. All restrooms are porta potties and the only water is the lake so bring something to drink and picknick as the nearest place to eat is in town. The shelters will be in use by the dive shops but...

    Balmorhea in Feb

Balmorhea was a fun, been there, done that kinda dive. Lots to see but it is very small and shallow and a bit boring after 30 mins or so. I've been there a few times and was fine in a 3 mil but wasn't there during the winter so I was able to warm up during the si. I also dove the Blue hole...

filling off road tires with scuba tanks?

Well, I've never tried to empty a tank and see how many tires I can fill. I've got 33' BFG's on my toyota and have no problems topping off the tires or filling up a tire that went flat overnight from a slow leak. I've got 80 cf and pst 130's, both work fine.

True story: A Solemn Moment an honored Dead - Or NOT!

Rick, I'm glade to hear that you spoke with the family and they were ok. I am relieved to hear that you were sensitive to the family and were understanding of how I felt about your posting. That shows to me a bit of class and true concern. I'm sorry that I got the wrong impression about you...

True story: A Solemn Moment an honored Dead - Or NOT!

Had he explained himself to the family afterwards and not just running off I would be inclined to agree, but I thought it shameful and offensive as he told it. Now that he's had time to digest his actions he chose to discuse it in a humor section which makes it worse. I have two flag cases in...

True story: A Solemn Moment an honored Dead - Or NOT!

I hope your joking and made this up cuz there is nothing funny about your story. Had you been playing at my fathers funeral and this occured you woudnt have made it to you car. Having a problem with your horn is one thing and excusable, but getting caught up with giggles would have been...

Diver fatality on Corpus oil rig

While I didn't know this diver personaly I received a call letting me know that he had been hurt a few days ago. My Bro-Inlaw knew him well and had been his instr. What I heard from a couple of divers that knew the details of his dives and death was that he made one dive to 90 ft dive then...

Anyone ever hear of tank rolling after mixed gas fill??

I'll tell ya what I'll play along with this silly game. Since O2 is lighter than nitrogen then will all the nitrogen sink to the bottom of the tank leaving only a high percentage of o2 on the top of the tank? Gee wiz if thats the case could get a tox hit due to breathing to rich a mix since...
