    Potential diver in NJ

Vinator, Welcome from NJ. You might want to check out some of the local NJ sites, such as www.njscuba.net. Definitely talk to the instructors first to see who will give you the better class, as opposed to selecting based on organization. Odds are, once you get certified, you'll end up...

    snorkels ?

In Jersey, it's a good way to get your mask ripped off of your head, so I just leave mine at home. Also, there's no need for a surface swim, so it really doesn't have much use here.

    reef club cozumel

Went to the Reef Club in October of 2004 with some friends that go twice a year. I loved it! If you are expecting a 5 star resort, then you're probably not going to like it. But it was clean, the staff was friendly and the food was good. The food in the onsite Italian restaurant was awesome...

    "Missing" regulator

Just returned from Buddy Dive about a month ago. A woman in our group had her Suunto Mosquito stolen. She took off her gear and walked about 10 feet away to return her tank, and it was gone. Made me glad that I'm a bit paranoid. All my gear stayed with me until I could dump it on the...

    Shadow Divers – Exposed U 869

If memory serves correctly, there is a statement by Chatterton in the prologue that says that once the book was written, he and Richie were able to make suggestions about changing technical details; however, they weren't able to change the story element at all. So their editing capabilities...

    Bare Nex-Gen Pro Dry

I've been diving with this suit for two years now and have no complaints at all. In fact, two of my buddies have them as well. You could glue your own pockets to the suit instead of paying for the factory ones. They great thing about this suit, is that it's relatively inexpensive, so you...

    Equipment Preferences

Find out what brands are serviced locally to your friends. Brand X may be their preferred brand of choice; however, if Brand X needs repair and there is no one to service it locally, and it must be sent away for a week, it may be less appealing. I see people from 3 states away sending in gear...

    Question about Nitrox and computer

As stated above, use your computer as a depth and time guage, just be sure to watch your depth limits per your tables. Your computer could freak out though if it thinks you're going into deco, and may not work for subsequent dives if it has a mandatory SIT after decompression violations. You...

    advance card question

NAUI just issues individual cards for each certification. It would be nice to have it all listed on one master card.

    Intersted in Bare drysuit

I ordered a Bare nex-gen from Richard last year, as did two of my buddies. Communication was not an issue at all. I highly recommend Dive Tank. Apparently they are located near the Bare factory, so they get custom stuff done pretty quickly (i.e. suspenders, dry gloves).

    Dry suit

DUI actually makes a valve for women. But it's not very popular. Let's just say it involves a LOT of adhesive and a lot of work. From what I've heard from those who have used it, it's not the most reliable thing out there. So your options are basically Depends for those looon decos or...

Bare Wetsuit Question (New Diver has Question)

Try taking it to your local tailor. They're easy enough to fix. As for it being a common problem, well....I have owned a Bare wetsuit and a dry suit and have had no problems with either one and would quickly recommend them to anyone for the value. But that's just my experience. I have a...

    Order of Equipment Purchases?

Also, make tanks one of your last purchases if you live near a dive shop. The price of rental tanks is usually only a $1 or $2 more than the price of a fill. Eventually, you'll want your own so that you don't have to worry about returning them to the shop, and you'll be able to dive whenever...
