    info on Cressi equipment

You might want to post in the regulators subforum, or better yet do a search (click the link in my sig). I found a ton of info just by typing "Cressi Ellipse Titanium" into the search engine. I have read that titanium regs are not good for nitrox, although don't quote me on that.

Recent Incident - What did I do wrong?

glitchrf - www.wiscuba.com and www.mnscuba.com are your best bets for dive buddies in this area. A lot of MN scuba divers go to WI to dive because it's closer than the good quarries/lakes in MN. Mods: I don't mean to link to other dive websites, but in this case most members of mn/wi scuba are...

    First night dive

On my first night dive ever, I was prepared to call the dive if I wasn't 100% about anything. After you get more experience you can always reevaluate your approach and be less conservative, but with mask & bouyancy issues, feeling tense...having a light fail would have been the last straw for me.

    First night dive

Couple things: 1) why didn't you call the dive when your primary light failed? 2) contact UK - from what I have heard they are good about replacing broken stuff for free. Especially if this was your first dive with it. 3) enjoy night diving - I think it is way more fun than diving during the...

Let me be the first to say......

That is a common misconception. Summer solstice is the point at which the earth's axis is tilted most towards the sun. We are actually closest to the sun during the winter (for northern hemisphere readers). The difference between summer and winter is determined by how much atmosphere the sun's...

Memorable Unique tips you picked up only on Scubaboard!

if you must see it, do a google search for "deeprelief.jpg" and click on the first link. The pic isn't exactly NSFW, but it isn't exactly SFW either. Also, it's not good to view it immediately before or after eating, or while you have anything you might spill on your computer nearby. You have...

    sig test

OK - through some reverse engineering I figured out that when you don't have a signature, you have no check box to choose to show your signature or not. Furthermore, the default is to not include a signature, so all old posts will not contain a signature. You can go back and check the box to...

    sig test

Actually, the reason I did the sig test was because it didn't show up in my reply to someone asking about aruba in the basic scuba discussions forum. I think if you have NO signature, it only shows up in following posts, but modifications to your sig show up in previous posts - see this post (I...

    sig test

yeah, I am getting a little annoyed at the "what's the best mask" and "where is the best place to dive in the world" threads. Not to mention all the threads about specific locations posted in the basic scuba discussions forum.

    Inserting hyperlinks

Also, when inserting a hyperlink without highlighting text first, the editor automatically highlights the text you need to replace in order to have words instead of the link displayed. In that case, all you need to do is type the words in where the highlighted text is.

    New with a wetsuit problem

Has anyone looked at the wetsuit models on the scubatoys site? the scubapro everflex 3 mil has George & Laura Bush photoshopped in there, one af the male model's hair flips up every so often on another, and Jennifer Anniston is modeling the neosport rashguard. I think Larry has too much time on...

What does Type 2 Hit refer to, A form of DCS?

I just got done spraying texture on the ceiling rock I hung and taped over the past 2 months. I know I have alleged type one but I have to go to my bachelor's party tomorrow.

    Crown of Thorns starfish

I googled that and a couple of other research documents about the CoT after reading about it in the knife thread too. That article just confused me more because if the cut up pieces were still alive, they still could have regenerated. What made the researchers conclude that they wouldn't? I...

    Tanks

Find a shop that will rent them to you when you are down there. It will probably cost less than the excess baggage fees the airlines would charge you to get your tanks down there (nevermind the vis and fills).

Memorable Unique tips you picked up only on Scubaboard!

Zen - The use of carabiners or "suicide clips" for diving is not a good idea unless it is one that has a threaded locking design. The clip can attach to unwanted things such as ropes, wrecks, monofilament line, seaweed, etc. Keep it in your pocket while in the water for safety.

to knife or not to knife

I think I would take a mk 11 mod 0 in my right hand and a mark 23 in my left. Not exactly a "balanced rig" from a trim standpoint, but for the ability to kill things at many different ranges, I would say that's about as balanced as you can get! EDIT: a 1911 is a time-proven reliable and...
