    Mt. Storm Closure?

Thanks Jim, I am getting the same information as you. I've been diving that lake since 1994. Back at that time there was a DNR officer that was assigned to Grant County that was very open about "hating" divers. (his words) He enforced the dive flag, boat dock restrictions, etc., with an...

    Vandenberg Key West

Been on the Vandy many times with several operators. By far the best was Peter from Bonsai Divers. He was laid back and a great guide. He is a little more expensive but worth it. He didnt charge us any extra when he guided.

    Mt. Storm Closure?

My son emailed me and gave me the same information. He lives in Morgantown and was planning on diving this weekend. The word that he got was that Dominion Power has shut the entire lake to divers. The rumor is that boaters were complaining that divers were blocking the boat ramp and using...

    Current Key West Conditions

He leaves the boat empty on the Vandy. His son does crew for him sometimes.

    Current Key West Conditions

Peter at Bonsai will do a trip like that. Small six pack boat. Laid back, he usually goes down the first dive, gives a nice tour.

    Looe Key/Key West next week

If you like a small 6 pack, see Peter at Bonsai Diving. He gives a great guided dive on the Vandee. I went places that I wouldn't have without a guide. A couple of bucks more than the cattle boats but well worth it.

Staying near Pennekamp - Diving with Conch Republic?

I stayed at the Marriott and drove to CRD every morning. I always allowed 30 minutes for the drive but in usually took about 15 -20. CRD was very nice.

Dive w/ Conch Republic - stay at Marriott?

Just did that very thing in October. No big deal. Left the Marriott 30 minutes before report time at Conch. Always made it in 20 minutes or less. The upgraded rooms at the Marriott are very nice. Conch Republic is a great shop.

Key West area diving- whadaya think?

Just came back from the Keys. Both Largo and Key West. The diving can be good in both. Key West is a fun place. The Vandie is a good dive. The nice thing about diving during Fantasy Fest is that most people aren't diving so there is plenty of room on the boats. I went with Peter at Bonsai...

Key Largo in January, good or bad idea?

I took my son to the Keys to dive last January. We got one two tank dive in then we got hit with the coldest weather in recent history. Then it rained. We had a good time but got blown out most of the week.

    Key West, FL Diving?

I have dived with Keys Scuba Shack and was satisfied with them. Very laid back, tons of free parking, boat crews were very helpful. We did a double dip on the Vandenberg and had plenty of time, no rush, come back with 500 lbs.

Few Questions for First Trip to Bonaire

Hey Kbell, been to Bonaire many, many times. Actually I'll be there the same time as you in June. All the above advice is good. Forget Casablanca; it used to be pretty good but a better place is very close to Sand Dollar. It is called Patagonia and it offers the all you can eat meat like...

    Mt. Storm or Lake Rawlings

Been to both many times. Mt. Storm is definatley primative. Several years ago there was a conservation officer that just didn't care for divers and really enforced the dive flag rule. WV law requires surfacing within (I think) 100 feet of a flag. Also he was strict on divers not using...

Give me your bonaire newbie 1st 3 days shore dive itinerary

Tori's Reef. This site is often overlooked but I have never had a bad dive there. The trick is to enter where the channel from the salt pans are. A simple walk down to the water. It is a moderately long swim out to the reef but rays are often found in the sand on the way to the reef. The...

    Plaza (Toucan) dive op

I used them once and found them to be ok. If I were staying in Belnam I would consider using Buddy's at Belmar or Wannadive. If you are planning on doing a lot of boat dives, then Toucan is probably the closest to you. The only thing that I didn't like was the docks got crowded when...

    Vehicle Rental Bonaire

I have used Budget and AB many times. Never any issues although Budget usually has nicer trucks. The only issue is they are extremely slow when you are waiting in line to pick up your ride. They are very nice but, oh so slow. Poppy is the way to go. She is there, ready to give you your...

Planning Bonaire Trip Late June as alternative to Blackbeards

You'll probably miss the diving on the first day with a 1500 arrival. Until you get your luggage and to your hotel it will be after 4. I usually use one of Buddy's remote shops. You can exchange tanks at any of their shops on the island and Bonaire really isn't that big. With that being...
