Manatee snorkeling trip January 5, 2005

I did two tanks with Captain's Corner two weeks ago. Very enjoyable. They do snorkeling trips also.

Can't help you with the software, but I have an Atmos 1 and it has the same connector with no cover. I believe that the connector doubles as a water sensor if you have it in the mode where it activates automatically when it is in the water.

My wife and I dove there a couple of years ago while passing through on a cruise ship. As you can imagine, fairly shallow (don't think we got much below 25'). Saw a variety of sea life including Barracuda, Reef Squid, etc. Our experience was pre-Wilma, so not sure what the area is like...

Dive & Surf in Redondo Beach rents Steel tanks. That's where I've rented them the past two times I've been diving in SoCal. Not sure on the DIN valves, the ones I rented were yoke. Their number is 310-372-8423 if you would like to give them a call and ask.

Slap some spring straps on those open-heeled fins. Much easier than fumbling with regular straps in the surf, both going in, and coming out. (voice of experience talking here :D )

We did the swim through in the area you are talking about. Talking with our guide, Victor Zapata, who runs one of the dive "shops" in the park, he said that his grandfather explored the caves back in several miles. How is the park these days? We dove it about a month before the hurricane...
