    Henderson Insta Dry

The range of motion is *slightly* less in insta-dry than hyperstretch but not significant enough as long as you size it right. I like my insta-dry suit and would not switch back. It is a little tough to get into but I use suit juice on my lower legs and now the thing slides on like butter...

    D9/s6

I have the D9 and you don't have to actiivate the compass feature. The computer activates by water contact or manually. You can't forget to activate the computer unless you leave it on the boat or shore but those people who do should be left in the water anyway ;-). It is a nice computer...

    Suunto D6

You may want to try contacting Richard or Shannen at Dive Tank (www.divetank.net). they do a fairly large Suunto business and would most likely know what was coming down the pike. That Said, I have a D9 and I love it. It has worked solidly for me and the wireless integration is nice. I still...

Need quick scuba fix: NYC to ?

How about Grand Cayman. You would have multiple options for airlines. I would stay out at the East End and dive with Ocean frontiers. They have great packages with car (you will need it). They are a joy to dive with and for a quick juant you could still get a respectable amount of diving in...

    Open Vs. Full Foot Fins

I have both. Full foot for travel and warm diving (Atomic splits) and Open for Cold water local diving (Apollo Bios). Have the right tool for the job. I really think this whole thing is just personal preference. I used paddles for years and said all of this split fin stuff was for the birds...

Thoughts on this setup Sony W7 underwater for less then $400?

I have this exact setup. You should be able to get good results. There is shutter lag, not huge but noticable. It does not bother me but it makes my wife crazy. It is not her camera so who cares ;-) I can recommend the filter as it does warm up the pictures. You will either need that or a...

Newbie needs advice for an alternate

Let me preface this with the face that I do not own this stuff but I have a Atomic SS1 and I think it is very nice. 1. I am not sure it is the same as today but I am sure it is similar. I would have it serviced before use. Lots of stuff can happen in 6 years. 2. Yes but it will most likely...

    Mares Volos vs Bio splits?

I have the Apollo Bios and they are the easiest kicking fin. They are plenty fast. My only issue with them is the weight for travel. I have a pair of full foot Atomic splits for warm water travel which I find nearly as fast and they are better frog kick fins than the bios which are a little...

    Verdict on Insta-Dry jumpsuit?

I have one. I switched from a hyper stretch and it is TONS more durable than that. The grey on the shoulder of my buddy's insta-dry has gone black but the material is fine just the cosmetics have been altered. I like it overall. It is really warm. I have 40 dives or so on mine and it looks...

    Dive computer - wrist model

As you can see, everyone is telling you to get a suunto and I agree. I have had a few. I currently dave the D9 and it is nice. For something a little less expensive you may want a vytec (both wrist mount and air integrated). For a console-type you might like the cobra. In any event, if...

    Console vs. Wrist Mounted

I have a wrist mount air integrated with a backup spg that I clip to my hip just in case. I like having one place to look and reduncancy of the spg on my hip. It is a much more natural place to look then on your console. It is generally more money to do it this way but I would rather pay more...

    which regs?

I have a B2 and really like it. It breaths well at all depths. The Titanium is only in the second stage. The first stage it Brass. Hence the name (B = brass). It has a 2-year service interval and lifetime warranty. If it is in your price range and you LDS can serice it then you wouldn't go...

    Cobra computer.......

You cannot delete dives fromthe cobra. This is a feature. The cobra will only hold so many dives and then it will roll them off the end so it really isn't a big deal. The cobra is nice. It is conservative but I think that is a good thing and I like the fact that you can get all of your...

    Henderson Insta Dry

I currently dive an insta-dry and I used to dive a Aqua Suede. I lost weight and that is the reason I bought a new suit. but here are my thoughts. Insta-Dry: Much warmer, drys faster (duh) but harder to get into (I am hairy) and not as comfortable but with all of this I still much prefer it...

    The Best of the Best

    1. Mexico, Cozumel, St. Croix, St. Johns, Grand Cayman, Little Cayman 2. Little Cayman - hands down my favorite. Stayed at Pirate's Point which is great. The food is great and it is the lowest key place in the world. No stress no attitude just heaven, then Grand Cayman diving with Ocean...

    Basic computer questions

I have been diving for a long time and I have plenty of dives just using tables but I much prefer computer diving as I feel it adds enjoyment to an already fun thing. That said, you cannot turn off your brain. I like to look at the profile of my dives to make sure I am doing what I think I am...

    Need help with Cancun Diving

I have been diving with Nautilus divers for 10 years and they are great. They will give you a deal for multi-day diving. They are operating out of Aquasol now at the hotel they were working at was heavily damaged by Wilma. I will be diving with them in Feburary. I can recommend staying away...

    Why lite BPs for travel?

I am going to Mexico for a month. I have a 2 and 1/2 year old that will have the worlds supply of swim and sand toys along with my stuff and other necessary (subjective) stuff. So a few pounds makes a big difference. I carry my reg but I check my wetsuit, fins (full foot - no booties), mask...

Atomic Aquatics B2 vs OCEANIC Delta 4/FDX-10

I have a B2 and it works like a dream and is very comfortable. It is a real great breather. I can't imagine that the Oceanic would breath better but since I have never tried it I cannot give a comparison. You won't go wrong with the Atomic.

    how to pick a reg?

I have an Atomic B2. It is light, not as light as a T2 but light enough for travel and a workhorse of a reg. 2 year service interval and lifetime warranty. It has a swivel on the second stage so it as comfortable as they come. It is not on your original list but it is worth considering.
