    Fiji or Palau in June?

Beqa Lagoon sounds like a great resort, and there's great reef diving, not just their signature shark diving? And Palau definitely doesn't have shore things to do? Are there any locations that might have a bit of a younger crowd as well, but are still diving focused and not crowded? I'm 22 so...

    Fiji or Palau in June?

Hi everyone, I've looked back through this forum to try to get an idea of diving in Fiji or Palau, but I still have questions about which each has to offer. I'm also looking for the best dive operators/resorts to stay at. I keep hearing Beqa resort in Fiji named again and again. I'm trying...

    Progression of Certifications

Thanks for all the helpful advice. I know wreck diving is hazardous and those were excellent points about building up one's abilities and familiarity before attempting technical wreck diving. Also an excellent point that I should think about how far I actually want to go and lay out goals...

    Progression of Certifications

Hi, I have my Rescue cert, and I'm looking to get into Technical Wreck Diving. My question is, what are the steps. Some places say that you need a PADI or NAUI basic wreck certification before you can get a technical (TDI) wreck certification? Is that correct. Also, PADI/NAUI wreck certification...

Dive recommendations: Palau, Fiji, Yap or Vanuatu?

Hi, not to hijack your thread or anything, but I'm also trying to debate between Fiji and Palau, going in June, and trying to avoid liveaboards as well. In looking back through previous threads, it seems everyone recommends Fiji for beautiful reef life and Palau for megafauna. Is there a...

Starting a College Dive Club, need advice!

Hey everyone, I'm starting a sport scuba dive club at William and Mary(in Va, about an hour from Va beach), and am looking for advice. I've gotten a lot of enthusiasm for it, so far about 20 people really want it to happen. I've never started a club or anything like it. I'd like to plan...

Most important skills to be refreshed in a pool?

Ok, good point about the fin pivots, scratch that. And yes, sorry for being unclear, they are certified, and pretty comfortable in the water, they just want to brush up. Those are all good ideas. I'm a little concerned about my brother, he loves scuba and is like a fish underwater. He's always...

Most important skills to be refreshed in a pool?

Hi, this weekend my brother (12 years old) and my parents and I are going to the pool. They want to get back in the water before they go diving this summer. They got certified last year and dove again in March of this year, but none of them has over 10 dives. I'm not worried about any of them, I...

Wrist mounted computer with clip on spg OR console mounted computer???

Thanks you guys. Hey Nvert, glad you had a good time! Sounds like some fun dives. I live in Middleburg, i think it's 50 miles north of you, maybe, not sure, anyway, thanks for the comments everyone. Any more? I think I might go with wrist and SPG, due to the budget. I might end up getting a...

RGBM model: do you get locked out a lot?

Great comments everyone, i'm just trying to figure out if having RGBM like computers has made you have to leave the water before your buddies, that's all. And Teddy, nope, i've never dived with a computer. Thanks everyone.

Wrist mounted computer with clip on spg OR console mounted computer???

2 questions 1) I have a $500 budget and I'm looking at getting the Aeris Atmos II or the Suunto Vyper. Are those good choices? Any preference between the two? I want something with Nitrox for recreational purposes but nothing more fancy. But if I could get a VT PRO for around $600...

Are dive computers bought through discount stores protected by warranty?

Just a quick question, i couldn't find it anywhere, are dive computers bought at leisurepro, divetank, etc. protected by the manufactuer's warranty? Is it generally smarter to buy them through authorized dealers? What if it is a good $300 discount? any help or advice would be appreciated. And i...

RGBM model: do you get locked out a lot?

Chris, what I'm pointing too is the differences in the algorithims. Because of the bubble mechanics, RGBM in some instances might subtract bottom time when you ascend from 60' to 40', where a pure haldane algorithim might add 20 minutes in this case, that is what i'm reffering to. I'm sorry...

RGBM model: do you get locked out a lot?

In print, it was one of last years issues, The tests were done in a pressure chamber. It simulated three dives, the first being the deepest. The times shown are taken at specific times throughout the dives. Here it is, click on the bottom right hand of the picture to enlarge it
