    I panicked numerous times

Cathy, I notice you are in Ann Arbor. I am Bloomfield Hills. There is an excellent shop in your area with some first rate instructors. I did my Dry Suit specialty course with them and they encouraged me to join them on some additional dives (an inprogress rescue class) to increase my task...

Zeagle Annual Service - MI Dealer

Thanks all for the advice. I believe in supporting the local dive shop, but absent that, an online retailer (especially when it has such a great reputation). I'll be calling ScubaToys. Paul

Zeagle Annual Service - MI Dealer

I've moved from Virginia to Michigan and am having a very difficult time finding service locations for my annual Zeagle maintenance. I currently have 4 BC's and 4 Flathead VI's in need of service and can't find a location within driving distance of my home in Troy, MI (detroit area). I've...

Informal Poll- Boat nowhere near after dive

By the way, I have received a few PM's asking me to identify the dive operator. I would like to avoid doing so at this time because I want to complete my trip and prepare my report, which if history is any indicator, will be a glowing review and huge success. THey deserve that. My post/poll...

Informal Poll- Boat nowhere near after dive

Catherine - Hopefully nobody (myself included) will flame you when you provide an opinion, which is what I asked for folks to do here...but, I don't agree with your assessment that if one isn't willing to wait 15 minutes or so, then one should drift dive. That statement seems abit too broad...

Informal Poll- Boat nowhere near after dive

We were the only 2 divers on the boat, and thus the only group the boat had to follow. It was 5 minutes, as I timed it. The captain had a fishing pole afixed to the rear of the boat. I can't say whether he was in or outside of the marine park. There isn't really more to this story, and...

Informal Poll- Boat nowhere near after dive

Something happened today...and I want to know if I am being unreasonable. We finished the 2nd tank today of an afternoon dive, and upon surfacing, had to wait 5 minutes for the boat to arrive to pick us up ( the dive was Villa Blanca, and I timed how long it took). Before surfacing. I noticed...

Trip Report 6/3-6/10: Blue XT~Sea/El Cantil

I conversed with Al Dannerman a few days ago regarding the status of the new tower, as we're arriving on June 20th for 12 nights, and are slated for one of the new units (7C North). Here's his quote: "I am shipping the last containers with furnishings for the top 4 floors including your...

Mask on top of head - Diver in distress?

It has always seemed odd to me that a panicked diver would take the time to put their mask on their forehead when in distress.. I can see how someone might whip it off and toss it, but place it neatly on their forehead?! Disclaimer: I didn't participate in the other related threads, and given...

Who's going to Coz in June?

Hey guys, Ok, let's add 5 more folks to the list for June...arriving June 20, leaving July 2. Besides myself there will be 4 more including my 3 sons (19, 17, and 11). All but the youngest are divers. We'll be staying at El Cantil (new tower supposedly), and I plan to finalize dive op...

    Divers and Pilots?

Another way to look at it... when hovering you're just a calm wind away from a stall :)

    Divers and Pilots?

Hmmm... interesting point, but in this case I would think that Groundspeed would be the measurement... when we think of a helicopter hoving over something, it's typically a landmark. I sense a TAS / IAS /Groundspeed discussion coming :D

    Split fin query

Oceanic Vortext V12. Great fins, wide foot pockets, and very maneuverable (with practice)... not sure of your shoe size, but anything above size 10 and I would go with XL to accomodate the rock boots. I've used them for 4 years, and in a variety of diving.

    split fins for rock boots?

No specific experience with YOUR boots, but... I just got the PADI drysuit cert through my LDS and had the DUI rockboots, size 11, so I have some recent experience... I use the Oceanic V12 fins (love em), and in size XL. I would venture to say there is PLENTY of width in there for a size 13...
