    Missing Diver at Dutch Springs

I am sure if Dutch Springs provided the number of divers visiting the park, against the number of times an ambulance was called, the percentage would be much lower than dive/incident outside the park. Not sure we will ever know the underlying issue for this incident. In my experience, Dutch...

    Devil's Throat - Cozumel

Do a search on SB, you will find a few. One of them was a woman diver that was never found. The DM's attention was drawn to another diver in the group. I do not recall any of the accidents being "older people having heart attacks".

    Devil's Throat - Cozumel

I am not aware of Dive OPS having minimum requirements before taking a boat to DT, although they should. I am sure they check out the divers before they visit the site. I would not base it totally on training, I would like to see 20+ dives over 100 ft. This is a cavern dive, bring a light. I...

Two weeks (Anilao/Puerto Galera) in Nov. Suggestions?

this might not be timely enough, but Verde island is definitely worth it. I just finished 8 days of diving with Marco Vincent based on Puerto Galera, Verde Island were 2 of the better dives that week, maybe the best of the trip. The fish are plentiful, the reef is in great shape. The only...

    Cozumel Rookie

I've been to Cozumel several times in January. I would bring a 3 mil. I suspect water temp around 78. I'm sure you will see plenty of larger marine life. I have seen spotted eagle rays, octopus, plenty of turtles and morays, occasional shark. C. Where is the best Pina Colada in town...

Tank explosion kills one - Cozumel

gopbroek - Thank for the update that it was a Walter Kidde tank. I have visited SCC many times over the past 10 years. I have never seen a tank that old at SCC. I wonder if the operator was doing someone a favor filling the tank, and paid the ultimate price. Thanks again

    SCUBA Club Cozumel

The keys might be better for a junior diver, but considering your dates, I'm not sure you will get in the water in the Keys in January. I have had bad luck trying to dive in the Keys in January/February. Might of been my bad luck. Also, consider the water temp that time of the year . I like...

    canon g12 worth buying?

I had a Canon 10 (until it died in Oct) with a Canon case. I came close to buying an Ikelite case, I felt I did not need it. Your answer depends on what you want to do. They are 2 different cases. The Canon case is much smaller, you can use the internal flash (with the defuser). But it can...

Trip to Trinidad and Tobago - 1-12-2013

I stayed at the Blue Waters Inn in Speyside last May and used their dive op. Bluw Waters is on the North East tip of the island. I had a great time. It was my first trip to Tobago, did not know what to expect. The resort and dive op were great. I can not speak for other dive ops on the...

Adjustable breathing reg: worth it or a hassle?

I have both Adjustable and non-adjustable regs. My preference is adjustable, although both have served me well. I agree that you should rent the model you want or try a friend's reg. They cost a bit more, I like the option. As you go deeper, you can adjust your reg to be a very easy...

    Kidney Removal

LynnB, My kidney was removed 5 years ago due to Kidney cancer. This has not prevented me from diving once everything has healed. My surgery was in January, I was diving mid-May. Since I dove in the North East, I do not any local diving before May. I did try to get my surgeon to allow...

Incident at Dutch Springs 21 May

Yes, I was there. I assisted with the team that attempted to revive the diver. I do not work for Dutch Springs, I happened to be in the area as this accident happened. After the diver was put in the ambulance, I heard the father explain what happened while others were asking questions and...

Incident at Dutch Springs 21 May

fjpatrum - I am basing my statement on what the father said after his son was moved to the ambulance and that the son's tank was empty. I agree that there is a lot of speculation, including your statement that he had a runaway inflator hose. I have my thoughts on what happened, I agree that...

what tanks did i get at this garage sale?

i do not have the link handy, using a different PC. These tanks are not T6351. If you do some searching, you should find the Luxfer Manufacture dates for the T6351 tanks. You should not have any issues getting the hydroed, VIP or filled. Provided they pass the tests. Good Luck!! - Tom
