Death in Cocos from shark attack

I do have to agree that I felt the most uneasy during the night dive at Manuelita. Especially since at one point, we were surrounded by rivers and rivers of white tips and tarpon hunting, then in an instant they disappeared. I just KNOW there had to have been one or more tiger sharks around when...

Death in Cocos from shark attack

Such a tragedy. So sorry for the divers and the victims’ families. Was on the Argo in August. Some of my group saw one of the tiger sharks. I was on the submersible and missed that dive. But even though the rest of us looked out for other tigers the rest of the trip, I was always just a trifle...

whale shark diving in belize, may 11-16, 2017?

I have been making arrangements to dive with the whale sharks in Placentia in May. And I can tell you that the rules and regulations are very strict... and rightfully so. It IS expensive, but if you do want to dive or snorkel with them, you will need to go with one of the Ops that gets permits...

Trip Report - La Parguera, Puerto Rico, December 27-30, 2012

Thanks everyone for all your help. I definitely plan to take the toll option, and I will most likely take my GPS too. I already booked my flights to San Juan. Getting excited. Total warm water wuss and it's been a couple of months. Can't wait to get back into the water. I've added all...

Trip Report - La Parguera, Puerto Rico, December 27-30, 2012

I did get various responses on tripadvisor that may help others planning a trip, so I am reposting some of the interaction here.. "From the San Juan area, take Route 52 south ... continue on 52 through Ponce ... then pick up Route 2 west ... finally take Route 116 south into Guanica .... Google...

Trip Report - La Parguera, Puerto Rico, December 27-30, 2012

Thanks Gino. I am working on a short trip to Guanica and La Parguera. I just spoke with Nayda, and she confirms they will be diving even with only one passenger. I do have a question I hope you can help with. How "difficult" is the drive between San Juan and Guanica. I hate mountain...

Local News Cameraman dies off of Catalina

Thanks, K. He really was special. He will be missed. As far as cause, I also suspect medical issues, but I don't want to speculate, and am waiting for the final word after the investigation is complete. However, I dived with him several times, and he was a very careful and experienced diver.

    Help for a Mac owner

Very concerned and unhappy that the unit cannot be set up or upgraded on a Mac. I have tried twice and no go. Just got off the line with Nautilus support. Correcting this needs to be highest priority, and the lack of full Mac compatibility needs to be disclosed on both the sales and support...

    Runaway Bay, Jamaica

I also stayed in Runaway Bay and dived with a shop called Jamaqua in October 2006. It may not exist anymore, because I can't find their website. Most of the hotels have gone all inclusive..owned by foreign corporations, and squeezing out smaller operators / mom and pop restaurants and...

Where is the line between minding my own business?

Being fair is absolutely necessary, and judging while only hearing one part of the story is reprehensible. But in this case, I have personally read the thread the diver started on divebuddy.com.. just check out the forums and look for the thread "going down" that references the Cayman trip...

    Masks and glasses

I used prescription dive masks too and have been very happy. I can now see my wrist computer again!!! The cost of the prescription mask was covered by my HSA (Healthcare spending account) similar to my reading glasses etc. True you are still paying for them, but at least it is pretax dollars...
