    Atomic B2 vs Scubapro MK25/S600

I have both of those exact setups (but rather a functionally identical T2). Both the are high-end cold-water capable regulator sets. You would be happy with either (most new divers would be so lucky to have such regs!). The B2, however, is simply more elegant and refined in design and...

    Atomic Regulator Service

Thanks very much for the link to the manuals. I don't plan to do my own work (no parts access) but I like knowing everything about my regs. The other links are great, too. I already have the Regulator Savvy book. (Oddly, the Atomic manuals link wouldn't work for me until I added a trailing...

    sp-350

Woohoo! That is great news since there is much good information here I used to make reference to before dive trips to refresh my knowledge (since my SP-350 is not my regular above water camera). It is good to have this valuable resource back online. I still have my "flood insurance" in its...

    Natalee Holloway - Aruba

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Authorities in Aruba say they're looking into new evidence that could lead to an arrest 3½ years after Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway disappeared on a senior class trip to the island... A new witness has emerged, authorities say, who can place van der Sloot and his father...

    Domeboro Otic

I agree that is a pretty blatant ad and adds no value to the discussion. However good their product might be, their website, though less filled with absurd comments than a couple years ago, is filled with ridiculous statements like "Clear ears often to allow air to escape through the Proplugs...

    G9 w/ikelite housing & DS 125 Question - Strobe beeping?

Was this comment from Backscatter or from Ikelite. I simply do not believe Ikelite would do that on a professional strobe. Who would put up with that?

    Close-up and wide-angle lenses for Canon G9

Yes, get a wide angle lens. It is very helpful. I wish the Inon bayonet mount lenses worked with the Ikelite case. I would upgrade to the G9 then.

Just got PADI OW certified, and a perforated eardrum

Its relevancy is the same as before. Note that some of the "experts" quoted astonishingly do not understand how vented plugs work and have never even tried them, hence are incompetent to present a critique (Dekelboum and Hunter specifically).

Housing, Lenses, And Lights For Canon 30D

wcj786, when you say you are a newbie do you mean you are a new diver or just new here? I am going to suggest you read as much here as possible before making the leap. You are obviously an experienced top-side photographer but sometimes that experience and equipment don't translate as well as...

    Replacement for SP-350, Sp-560 or 570?

That is a very legitimate complaint. That 7 seconds sure feels like 10+ while waiting and makes RAW pretty much unusable on the SP-350 except for still lifes. But for a 3rd generation G-series in its price range the RAW capture on the G-9 should be even better than almost 3 seconds.

    Replacement for SP-350, Sp-560 or 570?

Note that "remanufactured" cameras are usually like new. Open box returns that may or may not have had problems. And the refurbishment should take care of any problems. I would not have any hesitation getting a refurbished SP-350. Might as well get 2 while you're at it. I just looked at the...

    Atomic Regulator Service

Thanks, DiverMo and ZzzKing, all good info. In a wierd way I sort of like the cosmetic dings and things so would be more inclined to want to just pay for the internal stuff. And, actually, one of my regs was purchased from ScubaToys the last time I was in Dallas. I thought they had told me at...

    Atomic Regulator Service

I came upon this thread while doing a search so rather than starting a new one let me append my question since most here would be Atomic users. My local Atomic dealer went under and the next closest Atomic dealer sends their service work out. That is a layer of complication I can do without...

    Buyer be aware - DBROTH

The Amazon Storefront appears to be up but their website looks pretty flakey. That company reminds me of those Brooklyn camera stores which I would never patronize no matter how good the price.

    Strong currents in Palau

I think 100 dives would indicate adequate experience to try Palau. As others have mentioned there is some variability in the currents there but the only way to get experience is to do it. It is one of the classic must dive locations and the sooner you go the better (from a reef life expectancy...

    Force Fins - my experience

Note that it really depends on the diver. Most users I believe would say the standard shaped model is very weak as a frog kick capable fin (by its very design). I found it nearly impossible. But I had no problem with the Excellerating model. Go figure!
