    Hello from New England

Welcome to the board. You haven’t described your disability, however; I’m in my 50’s and have a compressed disk in my lower spin, and I dive doubles on decompression dives. I also often have seen a young man at Nubble Light in Maine, who is paralyzed from the waist down, and he gears up, and...

    Newburyport MA shore dives

You need to go to Nubble Light, in York Maine. It’s only a few miles up route 95 from Newburyport. Great shore dive, good parking, bathrooms and restaurants on sight.

DUI suit suitable for NE wreckdiving

I’m a technical decompression diver, and use a DUI CLx-450 dry suit. I have always been happy with it, and it has performed well for me. I used the suit for 7 years before I needed to replace the dry suit zipper. I had to replace the left shoulder valve after about 5 years. Still diving...

    Looking for O2 sensor

There used to be a business in Massachusetts, that sold replacement oxygen sensors for the Oxycheq Expedition analyzers. (As well as others). I can’t remember the name of the company, but they had an on-line store, and their prices were very reasonable. If they no longer exist, does anyone know...

    Scalloping Equipment

Forget the pecks and such. If I’m not mistaken, you can fill a one gallon bag with scallops. That’s just the scallop, not the shell. You can get the one gallon plastic zip-lock bags at any grocery store. This is what I’ve been doing for years. I believe it’s a one gallon...

    Scalloping Equipment

    Scalloping Equipment

You don't need a 100lb liftbag, a 50lb is fine. It's smaller, more compact and easier to use. I've done quite a bit of scalloping and have never needed more than a 50lb bag. As for a dive reel, use what ever you want. It's used for navigation, so you can find your way back to the boat anchor.

    Injured Diving, My Bad...

Your absolutely right ! Pointing my toe away from me, (as in kicking), is a pain free movement. However curling my toes towards my shin is another issue entirely. I’m walking pretty good already, but going up stairs is a bit uncomfortable. There’s a dive charter coming up on the 25th of this...

    Injured Diving, My Bad...

Just a note for you older divers out there. At least the one’s diving in cold weather / water. On Oct 22nd, I took a dive charter out of Gloucester MA. We went to Saturday-Night Ledge and the Chester Poling. I believe this was the 1st time I had taken this particular charter. The boat was, the...

    DayBreaker 10/22 ?

Just for curiosity sake, I’m doing a dive off the DayBreaker this Sunday 10/22. I believe the intended destination is Saturday-Night Ledge & the Poling. Is anyone from here going to be on the boat as well ? A friend of mine is finishing up a class, and I’m just along for the dive.

dive (!) and spider bite (?)

The symptoms you describe sound like that of the Black Widow spider bite. Of course I’m just saying that it sounds that way, from what I’ve read. I’m certainly no doctor.

    Warning - Nubble Light Maine

I dive Nubble all the time, and see these boats drive by the dive flags all the time. I hear them overhead on many occasions. I have also seen a pair of jet-boats circling and doing slalom type runs around dive flags at high speed. I tend to dive the deep end (if you will), that is I go 90...

    which backplate

I’m also here in Massachusetts, You better get a dry suit. If you want a good plate, check out FredT. He’s here on this board, just do a search. There is no better plate made out there. He makes different sizes and different weights. Padding is not needed with a backplate and...

New!! To anyone in EASTERN CT!

50’s ? The water temps in MA. don’t get above 50 degrees, even in July & August. At least not at depth. Where did this old thread come from ? It’s more than a year ½ old, shouldn’t it be put in a closed file or something ?
