    Cleaning Out A Flooded Ys-01

I don't believe there is a good pressure seal between the battery compartment and the electronics, so you may find water in there too. That's often fatal, or "Beyond Economic Repair". It would be wise to remove the front and make sure there is no water nor corrosion on the electronics, but be...

Inon UWL 01 M46 Wide Angle Wet Lens

This UWL-01 Wide Angle Wet Lens for 46mm Lens Ports will widen the camera image by about 50%, or in other words multiply the focal length by 0.54x. It may be installed and removed underwater (wet). It has very good optical properties, being a 4 element lens of high quality. It may vignette on...

Upgrading to the epl5 with the pt ep10 houisng

Has anyone tried fitting the E-PL5 in the older PT-EP01 housing? I ask because someone else here put an E-PL5 in the housing for the E-pl3, and it worked OK, except the video and review buttons. But you can do video via the mode dial. Anyone tried this with the E-PL5?

    E-PL1 and PT-EP01 Special

Oops. This was probably an error by Adorama. They now sell the case for $399, the camera for $449 and the combo for $700. I did get a combo at the low price of $399, so they did honor the deal until someone woke up. I had wanted a spare housing, because changing the port for a fisheye on...

Rookie diver, rookie photographer, have E-PL1. Recommendations for UW config?

Well Jack, I still love the housing and setup you sold me for my E-PL1. Since I have many decent lenses, I will stay with this family and I still get good results with my original E-PL1. I do agree, if you are buying today, get the latest whatever. Housings for the older bodies actually go...

    EPL-5 released

Speaking from ignorance, I think what we need is sensitivity per pixel, not ISO per se. That's what we seem to get with new sensors as time goes on. But sometimes the makers have to play the megapixel race game, so trade low ISO for more pixels. The result is not a win for all. I used a 6MP...

    Amazon's Selling EPL-1 for $150!

I would definitely buy a separate system, cheaper than divorce. You need to consider the cost of a whole system before making the leap. A whole system includes E-PL1 body, lens, housing, lens port, tray and strobe, same for the NEX. My estimate for the OLY system would be $1500-2000, while...

If Nikon wanted an UW advantage why not a new Nikonos?

It just got too expensive. The Nikonos R was the end of the line, with autofocus. Discontinued around 2001. Selling for $2000 for the body, maybe more or less on the used market. You can house an F100 for a lot less and have a wider selection of lenses, if you must have film. There was a...

quick (angry) report on my 1s days with my new S95 and Patima housing in ambon

It could be condensation. If you load the housing in warm wet air, then cool it in the water, you can get fogging on the port glass and even a few drips as you report. I don't know if that's what happened, but try a Maxi Pad in the case to sop up any light amount of condensation.

Anyone got a WP-DC17 housing they want to get shot of? Almost ANY condition

There are a couple on eBay. When you buy an older housing, it's wise to install a fresh O-ring. These are so old the O-ring may be squared up and leaky. I've had this happen, so I'm a believer. I know you are trying to be thrifty and green, but the newer cameras are so cheap it may be...

3rd dive and flooded... oly pt-050 help me...

I can't tell from the photo where the leak is. I guess it is obvious to you there, but hard to see from the photo. I've never had a leak from several generations of Oly housings over 10 years. I think this housing is well designed, and have not heard of any epidemic failures like with some...

    Flooding/ Insurance question

The camera and lens will probably be damaged beyond repair, especially in salt water. The plastic housing parts may have salvage value on ebay. The problem with insurance is they look for any reason not to pay off. If you go that route, you may be wasting your money. It is better to be...

    flooded g-10

I had the G11 for a while, but found it was not as good as the Canon S90, so I sold the G11 and used the S90 in a cheap Canon housing. Can't beat the price and tiny size, fits in a BC pocket. (The G12 is very similar to the G11.) I would suggest you look at the Canon S95 rather than G series...

New Oly M4/3 camera + housing coming!

I saw this thread and was really skeptical, partly because Olympus seems to be running out of steam due to the financial distractions, and partly because Olympus 4/3 cameras and especially lenses are quite expensive relative to compact DSLR cameras from Canon and Nikon. You can buy 16-18MP...

Olympus status - should we be worried?

You would think the "real worth" of the company would be determined by sales, profits, and other objective measures. In Japan, things are different. A venerable company like Olympus (92 years old) which has lots of employees has special worth to the government and the people, beyond financial...

    E-PL1 firmware

Olympus says the autofocus performance is faster with 1.1, so I would upgrade to 1.1 or 1.2. Version 1.2 was only claimed to allow compatibility with the EVF2 viewfinder, so at first glance it seems not needed unless you have that viewfinder. But I always suspect there may be unannounced...

Olympus status - should we be worried?

I keep watching the tragicomedy at Olympus unfold. The latest news is mixed: on Dec 21 the police raided the corporate offices for records on the accounting fraud, and Olympus will probably raise cash to stabilize their business ($1.3 billion in new shares to be issued). What puzzles me is...
