As long as there are lawyers standing around waiting to sue when someone dies from a "scuba accident" that is really a health related accident that just happened to have occurred underwater (I foresee more heart attacks and out of shape/unhealthy accident related health incidents occurring as...
Next time, check Carpinteria/Summerland. Everywhere in SB area is pricey but there is a Best Western that is nice in Carpinteria I haven't stayed so not sure but I'm sure it's less then $200. there's a Motel 6 and Sandyland Reef Inn also in Carpinteria...not great but budget friendly.
you could always buy a hooded vest - that would make a two dive day comfortable enough. Priceline hotel....
Or look for a boat that offers sleeping onboard the night before like many of the boats in Ventura / Santa Barbara county offer. Not sure if there are any boats that do two day...
Be sure to figure out which shop in Hawaii you are going to do your course before you sign up for PADI online E learning. you need to attach the resort or instructor number so that they can see your progress and confirm that you have completed it.
You could always do the online and pool...
It was Santa Cruz Island on the backside....three in a week in SoCal :(
Refreshers, guided dives, qualified buddies - if you don't dive regularly consider one or all when you return to the water....and pay attention to your general health people, I wonder how many of these had nothing to do...
I have had two "women's BCs" in the last 20 years. Aqualung Libra - passed onto my sister who is still using it and Scubapro Ladyhawk. both now have the tank band buckle that snaps closed (adjust once for your tank and never adjust again) both are low profile, rear inflation with rear trim...
Question...Has anyone hunted/spearfished in Turks and Caicos? is it allowed? Are there regulations on type of equipment used? Doyou need a license as a visitor or is it not allowed? I dove Belize years ago and it wasn't allowed.
Thanks, thought maybewith the lionfish invasion....people can hunt...
I would try on the couple/handful of brands your local shop carries, depending on whether any of them are "close" to fitting properly would determine whether I would bother driving anywhere to search for an off the rack fit. I would definitely try Bodyglove, their fit seems to lend it self to...
Some gear obviously costs more than other gear so depending on how much you can afford, that might dictate what you buy. The regulator will be the most costly when you look at purchasing the octopus, pressure gauge, compass and/or computer at the same time.
YOUR FIRST SET OF GEAR
I bought a...
I prefer not to have a husband tag along, it allows the wife to relax and not worry about meeting any potential expectations you might have about her abilities, fears, etc. It is nice if you want to tag along on her final (dive #4) checkout dive so that if it's on a boat you both can do a dive...
Welcome to scubaboard - San Diego is beautiful - lucky you, La Jolla Canyon and the childrens pool at your backdoor. I dove Belize 15 years ago, we stayed in Ambergis Caye and dove with a local operator named Eduardo. I have no idea if he is still in business or not. I do recall - you must...
Sounds like enough time, you will most likely feel tired in the legs if you beach dive from the day before activities. Usually I would move my long runs to Saturday and then dive Sunday the cold water soak is always good on the muscles. :). good luck
